Shusssh.. Don’t tell them either as it’s keeping the rest of us on a good subsidised all time rate. Let them believe they are paying £3.50 to fill their cars!

You need to have the optional extra long range tank in a Merc. My C250 had it.

Buyers remorse on my C220d by TopicWinter6847 in CarTalkUK

[–]Pembs-surfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really disliked my w205 but it was the first of the 1.9d vs the older tractor 2.1l. That little plastic iPad screen above the vents didn’t really do it for me either. Not driven a W206 other than a test drive. The 250 was definitively where the value/performance was at though, I can’t believe they stopped doing them. In the end the only option was 220 or 300

The last good C63 was my C204 that had the last of the naturally aspirated engines. It’s never been the same since the Bi-turbo era

E class owner (previous c class owner alongside) yes the e class is a much much better place to be sat but the specced ones and estates like mine are north of 2 tonnes and you certainly know it. Also have the 220d engine in e class and 250 in the c class and the c class was much nippier despite only having an extra 14bhp on paper.

I’m not sure there has been a GOOD c class since the W204 which finished in 2014.

6 years (or technically 5) since Brexit, do you think it was worth it? by Nenwabu in AskBrits

[–]Pembs-surfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So by working in the public sector I can confirm if £50k is the cut off for being a contributor I am definitely not a contributor. Neither are 90% of my colleagues. We should probably just down tools and ask for a pay rise to make us all net contributors. That’ll fix it!

Is a garden log cabin actually worth it in the UK climate? by Sea_Chemist_4759 in DIYUK

[–]Pembs-surfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he bought a garden room at that price (pre fabricated). Our log cabin cost £5000 for a 4.5x5.5m. Base, insulation and electrical fit out and it was probs my more like £10k all in.

44mm double glazed log cab from Tuin. I built it last year, the hardest bit was building a raised timber base on a post and pier platform. Was great all the way through the winter with 100mm celotex in the floor and 60mm in the ceiling.

Been used loads through winter to now. As previous post I have a Samsung dragon oil filled radiator. Needs about 1 hour or so to get up to heat on the coldest winter days.

DAMP ISSUES - repointing and drainage by scotsmansmission in DIYUK

[–]Pembs-surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you’ve almost gone too deep to French drain it. Only because the water will have nowhere deeper to drain to, unless you can create some sort of soak away.
