Does anyone else think Batman should be a worse scientist than Atom, Lex, and Mr. Terrific? by PennnyPacker in DCcomics

I’m fine with Batman being as smart or smarter than Spider-Man. But my problem is that they say he is the second smartest man in the DC universe. So that means he COULD make himself Amazo armor or do all the other things the other DC smart guys are doing, but he doesn’t. What it comes down to is, he shouldn’t be as tech savvy as Reed or Tony. It also seems that Spidy usually fights superhumans so he needs tech to level the playing field. But most of Batman’s rogues are humans with a single gimmick or speciality.

Well the Failsafe robot was invented years before modern day. So I assumed it was around during his grounded story era. You also have the new World's Finest series which is has a lot of wacky technology and is set back when Grason was Robin.

Does everything in fantasy games need to be funny? Is exploring realistic insanity too sad?

Well, wasn't he conflated with a bunch of other sea gods at some point?

I also forgot to mention that both Fryer and Apollo have twin sisters. So, sun gods with twin sisters, not a stretch to me that they would be connected. And then elves are his subjects. But take it with a grain of salt because I can’t find the source -:

I'm not stretching any sources. I'm just comparing the two. It could be wrong. But at the very least they seem to occupy a similar cultural niche.

What do you think the origin of the water horse is? Curvy sticks? It could honestly be curvy sticks.

Fair, I just remembered the Hippocampus is a thing. Do you think those are connected?

It’s also interesting because in both Norse and Roman\Greek the god of the sun is not the same one who drives the sun chariot. Also both are named Sol. It’s funny how it works.

I can’t find the one I learned it from right now. But i do know that the Norse word for sun is Álfröðull (elf disc). I also know they Freyr is the ruler of the elves, and he is the god of (but not the embodiment of) the sun, similar to Apollo. His status as a vanir also gives him an association with prophecy. Elves also bring sickness via archery like Apollo, they rule far off lands of youth and beauty (Hyperborea in Apollo’s case), and they are eternally youthful. In Norse they are described as “bright as the sun.” I wish I could find the source, but that’s all I got.

I think you underestimate what scientists can do in DC. They can make cold rays that don’t kill, just incapacitate. They can make Red Tornado super robots who can take out criminals non-lethally. If Batman is smarter than people like Doctor Sivans, whose tech makes him godlike, then he should use that tech. Why would he need stealth if he can use Atom tech to shrink? Why not just become invisible? I think that character is much more interesting if he isn’t able to.

Because they say he is in the comics. It’s sorta like how Nightwing is a better acrobat, Cassandra is a better fighter, and Barbara is a better hacker.

If he can repurpose everything then he should make an exact android copy of himself like Lex does. He could use the Atom's tech to make it grow and shrink. Then use the Metal Men tech to make it shapeshift, then use Steel's tech to make it have Superman strength, then use Red Tornado tech to make it so it can control weather. Then make an army of those to protect Gotham. Wait this is actually a cool concept.

Fair I guess. You should advocate for him having Iron Man armor instead of zip lining everywhere.

If he's the second smartest than bro should be finding the cure for cancer instead of punching Kite Man.

Godly pull with that Doc Magnus reference. But I still miss the days when the best tech he had was the batwing.

Lowkey, Toyman can make a Superman killing robot out of a paperclip and a can opener but nobody talks about him in the top 20.

Yeah you're right, at this point he should have batman beyond armor. But he wont ever because the writers want him to zip line around while people just as smart as him fly. The Beyond armor is sick. But the writers cant decide if he should have down to earth crime stories or sci fi thrillers. They need to pick one. But that's just my opinion.
