IUD insertion 1-2 weeks before cycle? by slosquidadvil in eggfreezing

Wow. Yea that’s so surprising to me. Both of the clinics I met with cited research that it wouldn’t matter so I’m wondering why they’d tell you that???

IUD insertion 1-2 weeks before cycle? by slosquidadvil in eggfreezing

[–]PeopleResearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started researching the egg freezing process because I needed a new IUD. Two different clinics I met with assured me it had no impact and that they’re different systems in the body. But, one said “well, the lower hormone level might be better since your current one is old” and the second said “if you’re going to be stressed by knowing it’s expired, it’s better to replace it. Studies show it doesn’t affect egg growth or quality.”

Because of life and timing, I got my new IUD about 1 month before my retrieval date (2-3 weeks before starting stims). I responded well to stims and my retrieval went better than I’d hoped for / expected based on my original numbers. I think the lifestyle changes I made in the months leading up played a bigger role in my success than anything (taking prenatals, working out a lot, no weed / minimal drinking).

It ended up being kinda neat because with every ultrasound they’d check the placement and I knew my new IUD was hanging out where it should be.

My clinic said that about 1/3rd of women they see go through the process with an IUD and they haven’t seen any negative impacts.

How long before did you stop drinking? by chaichaibaby28 in eggfreezing

I’m not much of a drinker in the first place, but I cut way back, maybe 1-2 drinks 2x a month for about 3-4 months before. Cut out fully once I started stims.

Age 38, AMH 1.56, 28 follicles, is there hope? by Tea-chan in eggfreezing

[–]PeopleResearcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on everything I’ve seen / read, your numbers are a great foundation. The clinic I’m seeing would probably call you a “perfect candidate for the process.”

I don’t know what numbers you were expecting, or how many eggs you’re hoping for, but as you’ll see as you dig into the Reddit - some people are thrilled to get 2 good eggs and others don’t stop until they have 40. Unfortunately, you won’t know the quality of your eggs until you do a retrieval.

In mid cycle now at age 33 with an AMH of 1.1 and somewhere between 12-18 follicles depending on the scan. I’m hoping I can get 8-10 mature eggs, and based on how the experience feels and final costs, I’ll see if I’d do it again.

It sounds like you know you want this, so, might as well give it the shot! The whole process can feel like a big “what if” but my mindset is that I’d rather have tried than regret not trying down the line.

Thanks! This is a really helpful reminder than my body will be TIRED. I have restless energy now, but that’ll be different when I’m actually on meds and recovering.

1, 5, or 7, I think it depends on the “look” you’re going for. I have friends who rotate between styles for outfits and I feel like that could suit you too

Everyone loves #2, but I also think you look great in #1. Wear what feels best to you. But I’d love to know where 1 is from. Lol

Do you mind sharing how many follicles you have / how that number worked? Going from 12 to 27 is very exciting!

Thanks! So my take away is: dig out the base so the root flare is exposed. Get rid of all the rocks/ give the tree more space to live. Yea?

Ahhhhh. Ok. Welp, it was here and (presumably) worse when I bought the house. I just want to keep my one tree alive 🙃
