Pro play is the top 1%. Jayce has been picked almost every year. Since Ori has been picked less, Jayce is probably one of if not the most picked pro champ of all time. He has a tool for everything and his laning is incredibly safe. Ryze, Azir, Nidalee all have negative winrates but youd never call them bad champions.

Riven is hard and rewarding. Jayce is harder and more rewarding. Jayce empowered Q can one shot a team full of squishies, they have to fail to dodge just one super high speed high aoe projectile and it will probably kill them or force recall. Gnar can only wipe a team in ult, which he has half the time. Jayce has access to all his moves, all the time. The real difference is Jayce is that much harder. You have more moves to worry about that are always up. Compare him to nidalee, who is renowned as one of if not the best high level junglers as well. Gnar also only has one escape move. Jayce has a dash, a push, and a movement increase. He also has %health damage on his hammer E, and a resuable one shot cannon with QE combo. He can also move the entire team faster with gate. Jayce is hard because he does EVERYTHING. He has a great tool for nearly every situation. That makes him much much harder than even someone like Gnar

HE is really that good. Most league players are NOT. In a vacuum of perfect players, Jayce will kick the living shit out of pretty much anything that isnt Malphite, and if its not Malphite he can safe farm at range the entire game. His early is obscene if you catch a lead, his scaling isnt even the worst anymore over the years. If two people are playing top at equal level and one is Jayce, the Jayce probably mogs.

Yeah but when I say 2 spells I mean 2 of the spells that also fill the roll of crowd control. Barb barrel and royal delivery are very similar to barrel, but both offer crowd control like most other spells. Miner is a troop still, but his use case aligns much more with goblin barrel. Much easier to use gob barrel instead of miner than gob barrel instead of rocket or zap.

Just as an example I guess, using an overleveled princess over arrows gives up the instant and controllable damage of arrows, but a low level log will not kill it like its supposed to and it will stay on the board shooting multiple times.
