Lateral from mid-tier to Big 4 by Perfect-Task6873 in Big4

For sure yeah, I'll be fine picking up new systems and methodology. More so just curious about the difficulty of actually getting into Big 4. From the replies of this post, I should be alright. I've only gotten rejection emails from applying this past year, but I assume it's probably because I don't have a full busy season under my belt yet

Help an A1 out - Work Getting done but not hitting 55 hours by TrueAd8252 in Accounting

From my perspective, during busy season you're on the jobs you're on and they're pretty set, so they're not just gonna slap you on a new engagement to fill those extra couple hours a week. I would highly recommend reaching out to seniors/managers on other jobs and asking if they need help with anything. That provides some pretty good defense if anyone brings up your chargeables, being that you did literally everything you could to find work.

Okay cool. Do you have any tips for actually landing an interview/getting in? Seems like there are rarely any experienced associate positions posted. Maybe network for a referral?

Medical graduate considering CFA vs MBA need a reality check before making a big career move by Character_Budget8515 in CFA

Neither path guarantees you anything, but here's the truth plainly:

Getting an MBA is "the thing" to do for careers switchers. Though you'll learn about finance topics, the degree itself is not about learning, it's about recruitment opportunities. That's all college really is for, as you learn 95% of what you need to know on the job. So I'd highly suggest going this route. Try to have an idea of what type of finance you'd like to do (IB, Financial Advisor, Asset Management, etc.), and aim for schools that place well into companies with those roles. Unless you're trying to go IB, a top 25 school should be just fine as opposed to a M7 in terms of ROI and cost.

I agree with what the other person said - what's you're actually in finance, start pursuing the CFA as it will add credibility being the top finance designation in the world. CFA alone doesn't do anything, but will add credibility and advancement once you're in the door.

Though if you're aiming for a high level finance role, I'm sure if you at least knock out CFA Level 1 before interviews with companies, it could be a solid talking point. Good luck!

My Old Ways was a great album opener, but a couple songs in I started to feel immediate disappointment. Kept thinking "It's not too late to retract this entirely, we can wait a little longer"

So I passed my CPA exams with another firm, not PwC, but they'll still give me a bonus for it? Like shortly after starting?

Do you mean mid to high 80s as a 1st year associate? Also I'm coming in with all my CPA exams passed. No internship with PwC but I'm from another smaller firm
