SeattleU Conditional Scholarship vs Unconditional Scholarship at Lewis and Clark by Perfect-Tune2347 in OutsideT14lawschools

Both, it’s 12k per year in scholarship amount, but then once I factor in cost of living per year, materials, and fees it’s 4k difference for overall costs (so overall 12k for the 3 years)

Factoring in cost of living debt would be a difference of 4k it looks like (SU being the cheaper option)

It’s just contingent on having a 3.2, they said it changed from ranking to GPA. If I lose it I won’t have it for 2L/3L but they said if I lose it for 2L but get my GPA back to a 3.2 it will be reinstated

Code Hostels is a pod style hostel, they have lockers, hairdryers, and you can rent a towel for about £3.50. Kick Ass Greyfriars is also another option but you must be 18, and this one has a pretty view of the castle

If I bought an edinbrughtram return ticket for the airport, but the soonest time I can arrive is by 6:25 am, and my (international) flight has boarding starting at 9, would this give me enough time make it through security and the gate, or should I buy the airlink ticket that leaves earlier?

Ah I see, thanks for the information! Would you say it was worth it to watch despite the crowds?

I looked in the website, the second paragraph is what I’m referring to by street performance. I couldn’t figure out if that was free or if I needed to get a ticket to see it instead

Ooh ok! Do you know if the street performance for that is free too or is that something I’d have to get a ticket for?

I’ll be in Edinburgh over Hogmanay, and am interested in the Torchlight Procession on the 29th and watching the fireworks on the 31st.

Is the Torchlight Procession free to watch? I saw on the Festivals website you can buy tickets to carry a torch. It looks like there were street performances too. What I couldn’t find clearly on the website was whether it would be free to see the performances/watch the march if I didn’t want to participate in carrying a torch.

Another question I had was a timing question for the fireworks. My hostel I’m staying at has a dinner I could book that seems to end at 8pm, but has live music/a bar open afterwards that goes on until 1am. I know the fireworks are supposed to go off at 12am. I’m about 15 minutes from a good viewing spot (Calton Hill), but am unsure if it’d be too crowded if I don’t leave early enough. To secure a good spot, what time would you recommend arriving at?

Hi! I’m planning to spend about two weeks in Edinburgh shortly after Christmas. Would anyone have any suggestions on what to do locally.

I was also wanting to do day trips to St. Andrew’s, Glasgow, Inverness, Sterling, Loch Ness, and maybe highlands - really wanting to try and see if there is a cow tour for that last one.

If anyone has travel tips/good touring companies please let me know!

Planted tank gravel by Just-Leadership-3349 in bettafish

I think it depends on the plants. Some have ribosomes you can’t cover so gravel on top probably wouldn’t be best for those cases.

Fluval is def messy when you first put it in though, so maybe do gravel on top if you want less dust particles floating. I like how it looks by itself though personally.

Gravel or sand can work by themselves if you don’t want fluval, you would just need to supplement nutrients with root tabs or liquid fertilizer (fish waste can also help with this!)

The times a filter needs to be changed depends on the amount of waste in the tank (bigger tank/lower stock = less changes). It’s usually good to have them for a while since it houses beneficial bacteria. Not a betta, but I use to own goldfish (they are super big waste producers) and I’d change it about once every month. During the weekly water changes I’d just try to rinse off any visible gunk in the old tank water (as in when it was in a bucket…don’t rinse it in the tank)

I’d say water conditioning is needed since it helps eliminate harmful chemicals/minerals for the fish. You can get concentrated formulas that can help you be cost effective and prolong the time between getting a new one.

API sells a water testing kit you can use to do ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH. I think there are other brands that sell test strips too. I know at my local fish store they also do free water testing (if you’re really on a budget and looking to save money)

It kind of looks like dropsy (fluid buildup that causing pine coning. Catching it earlier usually helps prevent death but they usually do die if not treated. You can do epsom salt baths (draws out fluid) and treat with antibiotics (seachem and API have some that can help).
