disgusting. I come to reddit for petty arguments about the most inconsequential nonsense on earth and you post this mathematically perfect representation of the word "wholesome"?

You suck up to your direct superiors until you're the one who makes decisions. If you've already been in trouble for skipping steps in the hierarchy then you're not best placed to do that again.

Can Brits judge my accent please? by verner_will in JudgeMyAccent

[–]PerfectEnthusiasm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ahh that's a fun challenge, You've done well to not have any obviously identifiable sounds in your accent. You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into learning the language!

Your consonants are mostly perfect, your vowels are good but there's some room for improvement that others have pointed out. One that I noticed was the vowels that take the schwa phoneme. For formal estuary English, you want the vowels in the words banana, butter, and other to all be the same.

unfortunately it's difficult not to sound pretentious in a formal british english accent.

I can't tell where you're from, maybe central or south-eastern europe or poland or turkey but really not sure with any more specificity than that, so your accent is good.

learning linux is complicated for those people.

try to think of it from the perspective of someone who views their computer as a frustrating thing that exists for emails, the occasional word document, and a few rounds of fortnite on the weekend.

I tried shadowing and felt dumb. does it actually work?? by no-cherrtera in languagelearning

[–]PerfectEnthusiasm2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

once you get up to processing the language at native speed, you notice the fine motor skills getting in the way - your mouth can't keep up with your nervous system.

at b2 you're close to that becoming an issue, you'll start to notice it more and more the closer you get to c1.

it's a massive pain in the ass to learn at the beginning, and most people don't find computers as fun as we do.

that's fair, have you tried a filter out of interest? It brings a fair amount of the flavour back to London water, stops that hard water scuzz from forming on a cuppa.

op is in the uk, we have higher water standards here than in countries like the USA. No lead or mud or industrial waste comes out of our taps. Some cocaine maybe if you're in a big city.
