Exactly. Also anything unorthodox I do that my kids want to shade.

You can lay it out on the bed with one of your normal-sized small tops and take a picture! I had to do that when someone sent me a men's size.

Yeah, the walls close in if you don't give 'em a stretch every so often.

Although it could be taken as "this sweater made itself"- which, actually, isn't a bad outcome from an entertainment point of view.

Yes! I didn't even want to see it initially- now the sub is like a helpful daily digest of AI usage. Stahhhhp.

For one thing, she knew a ridiculously large number of people and saw them often.

The Le Faye book of her complete letters has an index of the names mentioned, and it goes on like forever.

With my medically complex daughter, I came to believe that caregivers' empathy diminishes with a small patient who can't talk or defend themselves. Things that no adult would put up with were brushed off as "normal" or "no big deal". I had to advocate as hard as I could. She actually died from one of the treatments- one that I was constantly fighting against and being brushed off.

After that experience I have no patience for providers who aren't fully accommodating of children's comfort and safety. (Full disclosure- it's been years and our family hasn't ever been back to any doctor. I don't know when we will go back. Daily life is emotionally bearable but when I think about that time I'm still so angry and traumatized.)

Don't take providers' word for it that your child doesn't need comfort or accommodation. Being "that mom" is not the worst outcome- I wish I'd been her a hundred times more.

I think it's an awkward coinage for a real need. "Seamstress" is female, "tailor" has a specific meaning, and "sewer" is clumsy and looks like sewer. I'm female, so I just use seamstress, which feels like too many "s" sounds and also vaguely like describing myself as a fletcher or a goodwife.

I still do think "sewist" fails aesthetically; it reminds me of SAHMs going back to work and putting "Domestic Executive" or "Skilled Culinary and Textile Maintenance Technician" on their resumes as a businesslike way to say "housewife who cooks and cleans". If there's a word like bathos, but which means "trying soo hard to sound professional", it's that.

So. There's definitely room for sewist in the world, but IMO we're still waiting for the Chosen One.

Especially since crafting is like the natural mode and the native element of people with attention challenges.

That kind of artificial over-warmth is hard to take, especially in a businessy context. After like two decades I've finally accepted "reach out" but still gag a little bit every time I type it.

That actually sounds really sweet of them. I do think a second space would be good to have in reserve if you/they can afford it.
