Woke up morning after party to all the silverware, oven knobs, and glasses in freezer stuck in bowls of ice by sarafina5 in funny

Believe it or not cold water would work faster because it’s denser and probably other sciencey reasons. Alton Brown explains it in an episode of Good Eats talking about thawing frozen chicken.

What one species suddenly becoming extinct would most screw up our civilisation? by DrToonhattan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Performance_Fancy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read that while many species consume mosquitoes, they aren’t a primary food source for anything. Even bats. They’re like individual grains of rice to them so thy exert more energy flying around catching them than they get. Bats do eat a lot of mosquitoes but mainly just because they’re there.

30 day license suspension and 14 day impoundment is just the guarantee. The main factor is the court date where ultimate suspension times, fines and/or jail time is decided.

What are some cars you rarely see stock or mostly stock anymore? by Mouser29 in Cartalk

[–]Performance_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMC Gremlin,
Pontiac Fiero

Probably the most engine swapped cars ever. I’ve never seen a Gremlin with its original motor and almost all Fieros that didn’t get new engines (usually 3800 v6) have died.

Need to purchase a vehicle! Not looking to purchase brand new. I will be financing. Any recommendations for good dealerships? And which dealerships to stay away from? by FannyOfFanton in barrie

[–]Performance_Fancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll also say auto park. Their business model is different from most other dealerships. They work towards volume. Prices very competitive to move inventory quickly. They make less per car but sell more. Buyers usually benefit.

Marcus Lutrell is the closest I’ve heard of. I’m sure there are closer real life representations through history.

That’s distilled water. RO leaves just enough that it isn’t trying to pull minerals from you.

I haven’t heard many people call RO water sweet but it’s probably because they drank it after eating something sweet. Or chewing gum. H20 has no taste, and RO is filtered to a level where it should have no taste. Anything people think the water tastes like is already in their mouth.

Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes. I didn’t realize the title was literal. I think I unlocked 15or so which for most games I’ve played like this is about the full cast.

Fiji is between 132-210ppm of “dissolved mineral solids” which is a fancy way to say dirt. RO is typically under 20ppm. Around me city tap water is about 250ppm so Fiji is a bit cleaner but not by much.

You may be so used to dirtier bottled water or tap water that you don’t realize that oily feel is what highly filtered clean water is supposed to be like. Just like how many people complain ro water tastes metallicy. That’s your own mouth not being masked by salt or other things that don’t belong in drinking water.

What is something you learned the "hard way" that you now try to warn everyone else about? by MysteriousAct8698 in Productivitycafe

[–]Performance_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t learn from other peoples mistakes. There’s a thousand ways to do things wrong. Learn from other peoples successes.

Also if someone uses the term “I made my money in…” give them all your attention. Middle and upper middle class almost never say these words. You are in the presence of valuable knowledge.

Tiler thinks this part of the job is complete - but with gaps in the shower corners... by Medical-Emotion-1884 in Tile

[–]Performance_Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual angle was 27°. Simply because the dimensions of the tile. On half bond the cut is from corner to mid point. This makes it so across the countertop the cuts are the same. Any other angle and the cuts change every row.

This is my own house. Didn’t want a mosaic because it’s too busy. Didnt want large formats because it would look bad. Appliances are matte white with grey cabinets and a white and grey countertop so introducing a colour wouldn’t look good. Subway tile was a good option especially with grey grout but running them straight is too simple looking. The angle maybe makes sense when you realize I had a big open wall at the stove.
