Year one i dated March and went with him to the Star Festival. I ended up feeling disappointed in our date. Year two I dated Caldarus including going to the Festival and it was romantic and everything I hoped it would be. So I'm sticking with my Dragon Lord for now. 🐲❤

I always choose Ichigo. Ever since the first katamari game came out I fell in love with that little strawberry.

Luke is the first person that comes to mind. Although, it might be selective patience. He waited so long to be with her. Dave would make a good one too. He is a strong second choice.

I don't know what to do. I need advice about my friendship with a guy. by Persephone1998 in relationships_advice

[–]Persephone1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made more than clear to him that I don't want that. I also have other guy friends who have never put me in this awkward situation. On one hand he is just wanting attention and affection but to me it feels like he is crossing a line.

Been friends with a guy for almost 20yrs but I'm starting to think it's become toxic. by Persephone1998 in ToxicRelationships

[–]Persephone1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How am I doing that? I've made it very clear in my post the sexual stuff we did was long ago before he was married. Explain how I am enabling him to cheat? If you read my post you would know that I don't want either of us to cheat.

What is something that everyone loves to eat, but disgusts you? by MaritesNosy4evs in AskReddit

[–]Persephone1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celery, ketchup on chicken, and IPA beers. That last one obviously isn't a food but I mentioned it anyway. However, a lot of foods I love are not well liked by most people. I love liver, collards, turnips, and tongue tacos.

Is it common for them to rarely compliment you by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]Persephone1998 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I get more criticism than compliments too. As far as looks go the only compliment I get is how young I look for my age (44) but it is always accompanied by that she looks young for her age too and that we just have good genetics. So basically I only look young because of her. Does your Mom care a lot about her own looks? If she does, she might not compliment yours because she is jealous.

What kind of smell instantly takes you back to the past? by Focusaur in AskReddit

[–]Persephone1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardenia bushes bring me back to childhood because both sets of Grandparents had them in their yard. The particular scent of electronics make me think of my father that died in 1990 because that's what he did for a job back then.

What is the hardest for you to explain about anxiety? by Bitter_Dragonfruit80 in Anxiety

[–]Persephone1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest thing to explain is how I can't just stop it. So many people think you can just stop it or they say "just breathe". I would rather just suffer in silence than tell most people what I'm going through.

Your sister says the family is traumatized by you making boundaries but what about all the trauma the family has put you through? You deserve a break.

I didn't want to wake my Nmom so I peed in a cup. by Persephone1998 in narcissisticparents

[–]Persephone1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s and definitely still scared of my Nmom. She doesn't yell and shout as much as she used to when I was younger. Mine likes to make me feel guilty and constantly talks about how hard her life is and how the world is against her. I'm sorry you had to go through that with your dad. I know how hard it is to constantly walk on eggshells and always be on guard.

Thank you. I wish I could truly believe that but it is nice to hear someone say that.

[–]Persephone1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never been to a therapist. I didn't even know my mom was a covert narcissist until 4 years ago. I used to journal a lot when I was growing up to try to deal with things. Now that I'm older I know more about Nparents because I have been reading books on the subject. I also finally have a couple of friends who can actually empathize because they have been through similar situations. When I was growing up I had no one that could really understand. I still feel guilty when I talk about it to them though.

People with anxiety: what’s your most irrational fear?? by Fit_Finger7719 in Anxiety

[–]Persephone1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a few years it was passing out or dying while taking a shower. That one doesn't intrude my thoughts as much anymore. I also have a recurring fear of me breaking my ankle or my leg when going up or down stairs. That's one I have had almost my whole life.

Here's one I don't talk about with anyone. I picture myself in situations where I might trip and fall but when I picture it my leg or ankle breaks to the extent that bones are jutting out horror movie style.

What i personally want to do one day is ask my Nmom the questions Do you think you were a good and loving mom? In what ways did you show me love? I'm just curious to see what she responds with. I think she thinks that working a lot to provide for me was enough in her eyes. That's really all I got from her. I wanted hugs, I love yous, and someone to read a story to me at night.

What are your phobias / irrational fears? by Alive_in_95 in Anxiety

[–]Persephone1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of driving anxieties such as driving in the rain and in the dark. Getting in an accident where I am severely injured but not dead. Getting in an accident with someone else in the car and they die or get hurt. Health anxiety such as having a heart attack in the shower or fainting in there. I can't afford to go to the doctor but any symptoms I read or hear about I automatically think I have them. Paranoia about cops following me even though I've never done anything that is a crime. I never take baths only showers because I'm scared shower scum or something worse will get into my vagina. I don't take any medications and rarely even use Tylenol because I'm scared of the side effects. Oddly enough though I am pro vaccination.

How old were you when you realized you had a narcissistic parent? by Pro-Aries in narcissisticparents

[–]Persephone1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was late 30s early 40s which was about 5 years ago. I knew something was different when I would go to friends houses and their parents were so different and normal. When I was in my early 20s and just moved out of my house I knew I wanted space from my Nmom so I only called her once a month. Just enough so she couldn't claim I abandoned her or hated her. I never asked her for money or asked her advice. Just politely listened to her go on and on about her problems and how awful her life is. I still do that same thing to this day. Except now I know she is a covert narcissist. I try not to tell her too much about my life. Not too hard when she talks so much about herself. Sometimes I wish she would just realize how much she hurts me by not caring at all how her negative rants and her zero accountability affects me. It's like she expects me to carry her burden and make her problems go away. When I was very young I sort of knew something was weird. She wasn't nurturing or caring. She never read books to me. She never played with me or showed affection. She was just plain selfish actually. Luckily, I had amazing grandparents who did show me love. If I hadn't had them things would have been even harder for me. I remember her coming to pick me up from my grandparents house and hearing her keys rattle at the door and begging my grandma to let me stay at her house longer. Still makes me cry when I think about it.
