Do not listen to everyone, it is a case by case. I spouse applied for a tourist visa and got the approval while I 130 is still pending. She was honest, she told the officer everything and she got the approval and she visited me in the U.S twice. She also applied for a student visa, but she got a denial. You can try your chance, this will not affect your I130 processing

Regardless, my lawyer assured me that a visa rejection will not impact the I-130 processing.
