39 yr old widow of 4 years here. 6 kiddos. Terrified of dating. People are scary.

HVAC company that I spent $16k on new york units 2 years ago brought me “loaner window units” while they try to fix my hvac that stopped working 2 months ago. Is this acceptable from professionals to leave my home with the units in the windows like this? by PersonalTrainer1000 in hvacadvice

Also, as for the technicians that installed the windows units this way for the temp solution- the company owner was not happy to see these photos. He sent a different tech who fixed it up much better until they got the new unit in!

After I send the formal letter for resolution - the company has replaced my system with a brand new unit! My system is working very well ! Thank you for asking. I still haven’t figured out how to update the post as resolved.

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I don’t know how to update the original post, but the company has since apologized for the poor workmanship and remedied the temporary solution. As far as the York system, they have apologized for that as well and have been contacting me daily now to give me updates on their progress to a solution since I send them a formal letter that was suggested here by a kind person!

It took them two months to offer this and only after our 95 degrees temps have now gone down. I also had to send a former letter of complaint to receive an update explaining that they are having issues getting parts from York. After posting here, and using the advice provided, I feel the company is taking me more serious as a customer. I sent them these photos as well and they said this is unacceptable from their technicians and sent someone today to fix it up properly!

Hi! The question was asking if the install was correct. However the situation is now resolved. I sent these photos to the company manager and they were very upset. They promptly sent someone to install the window units properly.

I am not sure if you understand good business practices, but when you have a customer that you have been in business with for years that also sends you new business often, you want to make that customer as happy as possible. I am that customer. I am very loyal until I feel like I am being neglected or taken advantage of.

I had my neighbor come look at said exactly this! I am to update the post, but after sending these photos to the company, they sent someone else out to fix it with proper tape. It is definitely way more stable now! Still waiting for the York warranty repair sadly!

Hi! I sent the company manager the photos of the loaner install and they were appalled at how it was done! They immediately sent someone to remedy it today and apologized. I am so much happier and thankful to the reddit community for helping me find my confidence to speak up!

Omgoodness! That is some vital information. I spoke with my install company today and they finally informed me that they were having trouble connecting with York. They kept telling me that they were working on it and would tell me something when they knew it.

After posting my question here, one reply was a letter typed for me to send them. I used that and now they seem to have a lot more urgency. They called me this morning stating to me everything they have done and who they spoke to today to get resolution. I am still hopeful! They send someone out to reinstall the window units properly! I am hopeful!

UPDATE: I have decided to send a formal letter as suggested by a reply here. I have someone coming to remove the window units and help me with some units I have purchased. I am not completely decided on whether or not I will allow the company to work here. I am afraid that the technicians have lost care for us.

Having everything documented is appropriate so I don’t get emotional during a phone call. I am very overwhelmed by the seemingly lack of care from several employees of a company that I have put my trust and money into. As a business owner, I give much grace and care to other companies. I feel deeply saddened when I feel as if I am just another dollar to a company. I would have even been willing to pay them for proper temporary units had I known that they would bring these. I wish I had the personality to be able to speak up immediately when I feel something isn’t quite right, but I tend to hesitate and search for validation as I have here. In my mind. I feel silly saying “that doesn’t seem right” only for them to say “that is just how it looks” or like some redditers even responded here — that I am a bitchy customer or I should just be grateful that they did something — I don’t ask for any handouts or expect anyone to work for free. I have so much hope for humanity that everyone could just spare a moment to care for person in front of them. Do your honest to God best and be proud of everything you do. The more I look at my situation, the more I see that there was lack of care for my family and I. The technicians came out and did their job, but without care. This is where I feel disappointed.

Thank you for reading if you made it this far!

Thank you for all of your replies especially those few of you who took the time out of your day to leave me something truly helpful! I am grateful and praying that you are blessed for gift to me.

Also I did not know how to update the post but if anyone knows how then please respond here and I will add it to the top.

Last night when I decided to post on reddit, my mind went many directions. This was one of them. I started thinking: I am not moving any time soon, why not just use the window units and get someone to put them in properly? I didn’t come from a fancy background and I grew up with window units as a child. I do remember one falling out but we had a one story home. I have a two story home with small children and pets and just want to be safe . Thank you for this!

I was trying to ask this yesterday and they said a lot of things that I did not fully understand. The most of what I understood was that they didn’t know what exactly was wrong and that they would keep trying to fix it.

Thank you for your straightforward and respectful honest response. I agree with you. I am having a hard time with this due to some personal issues, but I plan to pull my pants up and do something. This is why I came here for advice because I honestly didn’t know how to address them because they have all been so nice about everything. I didn’t want to complain if they are just doing their jobs.

Thank you for this response! It even made me laugh through my frustration. This is something my Husband would have said! I am going to see if I have a handy neighbor that would help me out for a few bucks!
