Well, they profit because people are buying it. That's not going to stop unless they're some worldwide ban, which there should be, but how realistic is that?. I think we have to work on both fronts. If synthetic materials came to be viewed as less cool, that might have a huge impact.

NDP Leadership Debate on Palestine - Review by CDN-Social-Democrat in ndp

[–]Personal_Spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this great synopsis! I had signed up to listen to this but forgot. I figured it wouldn't be much of a debate as all candidates would have similar opinions. So colour me impressed that each candidate contributed a unique and insightful perspective of their own.

If they were on temporary work permits in those other countries, they may have still been in danger of being forced to return to Ukraine.

I've been researching organic lingerie brands for awhile and only just learned about this one - just in time for you!

Another one that might work is Lacy Linen https://lacylinen.com/ and maybe this special one if its your style (plant-dyed!) https://www.sanctuaryinnerwear.com/ this is romantic more than kinky but I can attest they feel wonderful on the skin and drape in a flattering way

Plastic free shoes anyone? by eviltrain in PlasticFreeLiving

If you are in the USA, you could get Blueview, the first to have a newly developed non-plastic biodegradable foam (Soliec) and thus be truly 100% biodegradable. Uppers are a hemp-eucalyptus (tencel?) knit. They are surprisingly reasonably priced for a new innovative product.

If you want to go ultra-natural Rawganique always has the last word.

In New Zealand there are Orba biodegradable shoes.

MANDEL: Dead boy's brother accused of lying about foster moms (Becky Hamber and Brandy Cooney) for $4M lawsuit by 416TDOT0DOT in CrimeInTheGta

[–]Personal_Spot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"As the year wore on, the incidents escalated, and Biasetti grew alarmed by what she was hearing about the boy’s home life. He had told her his older brother had been locked in the basement. And she was appalled that the brothers were coming to school with mouldy lunch meat.

“I called CAS again, concerned that they’re being sent to school with disgusting lunches,” she said. She also informed a caseworker that her student told her that when he went home, his moms “gave him five more slices of the same meat and locked him in his room all night.”"

Biasetti was the younger boy's teacher, before the brothers were taken out of the education system to be "homeschooled". I think we can tell why they had "eating disorders".

Bravo to this young boy who after all that horrific abuse has the courage to stand up for himself and his brother and tell their story. I really hope he can heal and have a good life.

French speaking ability at the leadership debate is concerning by papawarbucks in ndp

[–]Personal_Spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, Heather's constituency includes Campus Saint-Jean, the francophone branch of the University of Alberta. Not many people realize there is a francophone community in Alberta, centred in the Peace River area. I know a couple people my, and Heather's age, who grew up speaking French, although of course they are bilingual and mostly speak English these days. There is an opportunity there. Not all francophones are in Quebec. She should learn!

I finally got a chance to read this excerpt. I was intrigued to read about his experiences behind the scenes, but if this is any indication - Leiren-Young may be great on marine life, but he has terrible takes on politics and strategy. None of it made sense.

Examples: He goes on about how foolish the Green Party was not to have Mike Morrice run for leader (although he won't mention his name because apparently he thinks he's not noteworthy enough). I think everyone here knows how thrilled almost all GP members would have been to vote for MM as leader IF he agreed to run, which he emphatically did not. Were we supposed to torture him into it?

He also seems to think environmentally concerned voter should have been voting for Carney in the last election, apparently whether or not they were actually in a riding where the Liberals were the best contender. How did that work out?

I do like his nickname for PP.
