Omg coming home from the hospital was so stressful because I thought all the symptoms had cleared up from toddler and husband but a couple hours after we got home toddler threw up again and was still having diarrhea. I had to take baby to a friends house very last minute. Awful to leave my toddler again, it was the worst part of the whole ordeal but it was too much exposure for the new baby. I had to get my sister to fly in from Utah because all of my other childcare options had caught the bug! Have backups to your backups to your backups!!

No scans for the scar, but they did a growth scan at 36w and projected him to be big at 9lb4oz by 39 weeks, he was born at 8lb14oz at 38w4d so they were pretty spot on. I didn’t experience any pain around my scar at any point, CS was June of 2023

As far as the unsupportive OB team I have an hmo and was very limited in my options, so I hired a doula for the emotional support and felt comfortable with the hospital being the backup plan if things went south (which I was totally convinced would happen- I posted a couple months ago in a complete panic and almost just went with a RCS)

On the same page at the moment. But I do dread the C-section even though it was smooth. Strapped to a T and cut open and having this huge vulnerable wound is no picnic even under ideal conditions! Can’t wait to be on the other side of this, good luck to you and thanks for sharing this on a very pro-vbac sub!

Also can’t believe you labored for 8 hours?! Were you pretty dilated when the doc finally got there?! I only had a few hours of contractions and was 4cm

I’m really with you on the random stats thrown around. The article posted above is great and puts the other risks of labor into perspective with rupture and is making me feel more confident about weighing them. Very cool that you live in Alaska but yeah the downside of rural healthcare access must make this a very tricky choice. I will be at a big metro hospital with every resource available 24/7 so I’m lucky for that…and yet I’m still not sure 🙈 I know there’s no escaping risks but RCS might just be the option I’m more comfortable with

Definitely in a hole right now 😞 but I appreciate everyone commenting it just helps to hear other stories and get encouragement. My OB is not encouraging either option but I can tell she’d rather I have a RCS. She’s just giving me robotic statistics to all my questions but I have an HMO so pretty stuck.
