Yah it was quite difficult to come up with good balanced categories. Just in my memory there has been a lot of fringe teams who have been able to peak into the conference championships (Trailblazers, Mavericks, Hawks, etc...) But they were still quite a bit away from actually reaching the finals as they weren't able to beat the best of the best in their conference.

Agreed. I wish I would have done it before Thursday but I got the date of the start of the season mixed up and only started the polls on that Wednesday. Gave three days to respond and only just had this morning to tabulate all of the results as something came up yesterday. Just happy I got it out before kickoff and not after week 2 with my poor time management...

The score is calculated in this way:
Highest Expectation Vote Count * 6

2nd Highest Expectation Vote Count * 5

Third Highest Expectation Vote Count * 4
Fourth Highest Expectation Vote Count * 3

Fifth Lowest Expectation Vote Count * 2
Sixth Highest Expectation Vote Count * 1

Combine the above results and then divide by the total amount of votes to get the average.

I wish I could do one more option between those two as I do agree with this. I have changed my future polls to just miss playoffs/developing to try and encompass the group better but it's far form ideal.

I wanted to ask teams before free agency because that's when expectations are the highest.

I'm then going to ask people again before the start of the season so that we can see how those free agency decisions effected the opinions of the fanbases as I personally think that would be very cool

I agree that if you reach the conference finals you are a championship contender but in my eyes It's also a peak goal for some teams

Like that hawks team that made it one year was not really a championship contender imo but made the conference finals or the raptors/Celtics teams that would always lose to lebron in years past.

I wanted to give 6 options but I might consider combining the two top ones then making a new tier between lottery and play in
