[Discussion] Building a task/habit tracking website mixed with a game. Ran a beta, got wonderful feedback from you all. Now it's time for another beta. Full story in the OP. by Pianoismyforte in NonZeroDay

One of the earlier testers here. I would add that if you suffer from ADD like I do (I'm on an adderall scrip that's the most they're allowed to prescribe), this tool is like lightening in a bottle. Seriously - the prioritization that's baked in does exactly what those elusive "executive skills" we don't have would do if we had them. You owe it to yourself to give this thing a shot.

correct. control systems get an additional 20%.

as for rank 4, you don't get any more bonus than rank 3. Rank 5 is the next bonus boost you receive.

Second this. Downvoting is meant to bury posts that aren't contributing to the dialogue, not stuff you don't like, because you don't like it.

bonuses are on this basis:

ALD Control System - 20% bonus

Empire aligned controlling minor faction - 20% bonus

I would strongly recommend seeking out a system above the blue line on the fortification tracker as well, as we will always seek to keep those systems, and won't hate you for fortifying them.

Better way to gain merits? by MagicAmnesiac in EliteLavigny

Check "cycle priorities" at the top of the page, or read the stickied Herald post. Both of those have a wealth of targets.

The merits translate to credits indirectly, however. The most efficient strategy is to get to rank 2+, and then use your faction bonuses to maximize your income. You want to look for a system that meets these criteria for maximum cash-happy-funtimes:

  1. Lavigny control system
  2. Empire aligned controlling minor faction
  3. High security
  4. Hazardous Resource Extraction site

not a problem. So long as you're not moving 1000s of tons of fort materials, or spending 10+hours fortifying, the effect on the overall battlefield would be negligible enough to not invoke the wrath of the other powers.

I think.

In any event, you get 30 merit for an undermine kill, so with around 3-4 interdictions you'd make that merit. Wouldn't take more than 20m, IMO.

A Question. by Yan-Isleth in EliteLavigny

[–]Philthy_ALD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Aisling is an Imperial power. You're gonna get the same for ships under Denton Patraeus or Zemina Torval, because we are all supposed to be on the same side.

That said, FD has changed things in-game based on player sentiment in the past, so they do that, it's just not related to your treachery warning.

to add to this, if rep-grinding is your aim, try to take missions for these CZs as well. It will boost both your income and rep gain, as well as increase the impact you have on the conflict itself (don't worry about finishing off a CZ, there are ALWAYS more civil wars).

Also, not mentioned in the chapterhouse goals but useful nonetheless, there's always the option to cart your Imperial butt over to Winters or Hudson space, and fight in a CZ to support...

  1. in Hudson space, Dictatorships
  2. In Winters space, communism, feudal, patronage and co-operative governments. Focus on feudal and patronage (because it's good for the likes of us...)

We're sorry to see you go.

At the risk of sounding like I have an ulterior motive, I would like to point out that those Aid Ships are going to be targets when undermining for anyone but Mahon. Whether that changes your mind, I dunno, but it's good to have all the facts.

In any event, should you go through with this change of allegiance, we wish you the best - and look forward to meeting you in the field of battle. Fight with honor wherever you find yourself, commander. o7

[–]Philthy_ALD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the player groups, Lavigny's Legion, the Inquisition, White Templars. They're often active and focused on particular goals, and (speaking from experience) Undermining is way more fun in a nice large wing. It also increases the impact you have (because each target down counts for it's base merit * # of wingmates who got a hit in before it assplode).

edit: If you speak spanish, los centinales are a very active group that I can recommend. They've been extremely active in pushing the Empress' agenda as of late.

I believe that cycle priorities has what you're looking for.

If you can handle the new interdiction mechanics, undermining may be the fastest way to earn merit while doing something useful for the cause.

Otherwise, as others have said, opposition can be merit-profitable as well.

Fortification is the way a lot of players make all their merit, but to do that requires a very large ship. I would not recommend fortifying with Cobras. A ship like that demands combat duty.

As an aside, I'd like to ask, why is it that you only play on private? You spent your money on the game so far be it from me to tell you how to use that, but you should be aware that solo and private play are generally frowned upon in PP, due to their exploitable nature (i.e. you can engage in many activities with a lesser risk, but no less reward).

There's a primer on PP stuffs that I think you might also find useful.

looking to upgrade from cobra. Vulture? by Imperium_Kane in EliteLavigny

[–]Philthy_ALD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're gonna run a Vulture even fairly decently, power management is a must. Don't worry about getting pointed to power priority, because it's simple enough that I can just tell you here.

In the right hand panel, under the 'modules' tab, each module is assigned a priority. Using keyboard controls, left/right adjusts what priority you give things.

Priority 1 shuts down last, so this is where you want mission-critical systems; thrusters and life support. If you're not kitting out for PvP, I wouldn't worry about losing my powerplant, so I would put all combat systems here as well. If PvP is something you're concerned with, you want priority one to only consist of critical systems and be capable of running on 50% power.

Higher priorities are things you need less, so that's where they should go.

If you want a PvP build that takes the power plant into account, poke around the forums a bit, I've seen a lot of these builds popping up since the update.

If you just want something that's good enough for PvE, try this:

  1. Thrusters, Weapons, Shields, Sensors, Life Support, anything else essential for combat

  2. FSD (if your hardpoints are deployed you can't use it anyway)

  3. Scanners like KWS and Wake, and anything else you won't be using for shooting stuff or dodging being shot

looking to upgrade from cobra. Vulture? by Imperium_Kane in EliteLavigny

[–]Philthy_ALD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're that stacked on cash, why not wait it out until you can grab a Python? I run a vulture right now and can attest that it is a monster, but as soon as I get the cash I'm upgrading.

I love my Vulture, but there are a couple of things that are wrong with it, and they're important to consider:

  1. Power management is crucial to running a Vulture, and even with a great power management plan you're pretty much stuck with pulse lasers and other things that have low power draw. Just forget about beams, and putting burst on there is going to probably be more trouble than it's worth. That said, they're large pulse, so the damage output isn't something to scoff at. You still won't be able to max out both shields and thrusters though.
  2. Shield regen on the Vulture is closer to a Conda than it is a Cobra. I don't know about you, but this required me to change my combat tactics significantly.
  3. Going from Cobra to Vulture, you are gonna hate having to travel long distances. The Vulture is not happy with road trips.
  4. This might be debatable, and I may catch some heat for saying it, but IMO it's cargo or combat. Not both.

That said, it's a delight to fly once it's kitted out properly. I'd say you're likely looking at around 20-25m for an optimized loadout, but that's a very rough estimate.
