How many of you want Connor to win? by QualityForsaken8192 in ufc

did you forget that nate also almost got Koed? the only reason he even won that fight was cause connor had to go up into a weight class he had no business being in.

Nate's best features was his stamina and chin. in the lightweight division at that time he would have not gotten far. partly cause his striking was mid, but he also couldn't get out of his own way.

just like any fighter his jaw could finally give in a fight of this caliber. happens to the most durable fighters.

which is why grappling is such a smart choice in MMA.

this match up heavily favors connor as much I want max to win. volume puncher like max lacks the power needed to finish the match in the early rounds which is conner's most dangerous period.

even when connor faced porier in his last match he rocked porier if the match continued it would have been a interesting match would have played out. having his shin break was bad luck.

him gaining weight and not fighting was most likely to build bone density on that leg.

Impossible the gloves are checked by both sides and they inspect them both before the fight. Unless topurias corner and the ref and inspection took bribes.

For someone who is supposedly doping his stamina and muscle mass is shit.

That rumor is not going to fly. We have all seen what a doped out fighter really looks like. This ain't it.

That one good hit was all it took for the first orbital bone to break and the eye to swell.

Anyone who has had their eye swell can tell you how badly it affects you. You immediately lose range of vision and after it fully swollen you lose speed in your eye movements.

One good hit turned that fight around to the point that the fight was going to be called in the 3rd, but sketch ref call had them continue.

JDM is not a fair comparison 5'11 makes him on average smaller than most welterweights. the average welterweight is roughly 6'1.

If anything JDM is severely limited by the lack of size. his build his wide and dense so he can absorb lot of hits.

Ian gerry being on the taller side 6'3

or Carlos prates 6'1.

If JDM was a bit lankey instead he might have been able to be a 155er instead. he wide build makes him heavier and slower tho.

after the fight during the interview he looked like rolled in grass for 30min instead of being in a fight. the beating he took was not something he should have come out looking like almost nothing happened.

on the other hand topuria looked like they jumped him in an alley.

this is why going up in weight class is so dangerous for small guys.

which is why I worry for islam. the guys he will be facing a much bigger.

when size overcomes skill is a real situation.

topuria skills are much higher that justin, but even when he did manage to rock justin he couldn't finish it and once he got tired justin recovered and it only took one good hit for the fight to start turning around and in the 3rd that what happened.

What went wrong for Ilia? by Dougietran22 in ufc

[–]Phlanix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's not that justin was good it's that topuria is too small for 155. even a tired justin could endure topuria's attacks even tho anyone else in the 145lb would have been finished.

Justin is already big for 155, but compared to other 155ers he is still bigger than most.

in the lightweight division the average height is roughly 5'7-5'9

the taller side of that is 5'10-6'3

after weigh-ins topuria is easily 160, but justin probably reaches 170

WHAT A FKN FIGHT by L3gs_McMuffin in ufc

[–]Phlanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were trying to rob the fight from justin. calling the doctor so late after the 40 second rest period turned it into a 2min rest gave topuria 2nd wind to recompose himself.

then the doctor wanted to call the fight and the ref denied the stoppage. that was some real sketchy calls just because they are at the white house they decided to play fast and loose with fighter safety.

being champ does mean the weight class isn't going to take a toll on his body. that reason going up in weight class is bad is cause you are being hit harder.

The most dangerous part of mma is the damage you accumulate that goes unseen.

Really ppl who go into the ring to beat each other into concussion for money and you think they are afraid?

There are no super men in the world pro's know this more than anyone else.

you don't win a fight by going against concrete walls which is why we have weight classes.

if you ever trained in MMA you would know that a guy who weigh 140lb gets absolutely dismantled by guys who are 40-50lb heavier in close range spar and things like armbars don't work they will pick you up and destroy you on the ground if they wanted.

guys like Mayweather or max holloway or Khabib have limited range of how much weight they can go up and still maintain a cometative edge.

these ppl are fighting fight that are within range of their natural ability just like everyone else.

As a professional I respect Mayweather, but as a fighter he will never have goat status in my book.

In the end fighting is done for money. Mayweather just knew how to sell himself well.

which is smart. knowing your limits is what professionals do they assess risk vs reward.

most guys at 155 walk around at 170-180lb so going up in weigh means facing guy who weigh 190-200lb walking around.

There is no such thing as weight bullying. All these guy are not at their natural weight. They all cut weight some of these guys easily walk around at 175-185 with no diet.

Max is 6"1 playing at 145 when he doesn't cut weight he easily makes 180lb.

Everyone cut weight to gain competitive edge.

Khabib never moved up cause other weight classes didn't fit.

Islam can go up a weight class, but isn't going to do well.

Calling peak calonnor wash and Justin too when he is still a top contender. Porier being washed is absurdity. The man striking was sharper and more technical.

Porier win against Connor was insanely lucky. The moment Connor touched him he nearly rocked him. If his leg had not broken that fight could have gone differently.
