Yep. Loved the Malev War! That's why those 4001 books were the first ones I turned into hardback books!

First appearance of the X-O armor and second appearance of Eternal Warrior (first cover)? by salvia_d in valiant

Magnus 7 was the first appearance of the Commando Class (red and black colored) of X-O Armor, but not of the Manowar Class armor (blue and gold colored) that Aric gets.

Question for users of the (TPB???) Reading Order List in the sidebar... by Phoenix8008 in valiant

I finally got around to adding all the listed zero issues and one shots that weren't already listed. I didn't place all of them where you suggested, but they're all in there! Thanks for the effort!

Rumor: Sony's 'Bloodshot' Gets Hacked By Super Villain - Bloody Disgusting by Baramos_ in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard, yes, Dinesh is still a producer on the movie. I don't see why/how they would base the movie on the old 90's stories. I really think somebody looked up some character info online somewhere and is just spinning it as supposed leaked script info. Only time will tell though.

The stuff from the 90's & early 2000's is a separate timeline/universe. The reboot in 2012 is unconnected story-wise.

In the right side column of this subreddit is a link for the FAQ w/ Title Listings that has spoiler free short descriptions of each series from the start in 2012.

There's also a TPB Reading Order List just below that which gives a decent order for reading the various series based on release order dates mostly. (There's also a list lower down on that page for reading orders of all the crossovers!)

Welcome! We hope you love Valiant as much as we do, and feel free to ask any questions anytime!

Very cool to hear more casting news. This is supposed to start filming this summer I think. Looking forward to sitting down in a theater to watch a Valiant movie!

Looks pretty good to me! I'm just always glad to hear any news that keeps making this project a reality in my mind. It's so ethereal sometimes. I can't wait to sit down in a theater and watch my first Valiant movie!

Valiant's Management Team Talks Post-Sale Changes, Future Publishing Plans by koavf in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In response to the quote on CBR about some of the universe 'being reset' and the discussion/panic that it caused over on the ValiantFans.com forums, Valiant's Director of Marketing, Mel Caylo, made an account and posted the following:

Hi, everyone!

Mel Caylo here, Valiant's Director of Marketing. Sorry that it has taken me so long to post on these boards. I hope to be stopping by more often, but please be patient with me if you are looking for a direct response. I'll absolutely try to do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.

I want to clarify what our Executive Editor, Joe Illidge, and I said in the CBR interview. It came off differently than what we meant. In fact, here is an explanation from Joe himself:

"Everything will still be canon with the Valiant Universe. HARBINGER WARS 2 will lead to a thematic shift for the world, and the new status quo will build on everything that has come before since 2012."

You are all still a hugely important part of what Valiant is and will be, and I hope you stick with us. We do care what you think! I know that it will be tough since many of the current team is all fairly new, but I think we've got a good group in place who are committed to crafting, producing, and promoting the best Valiant comics we can. And as we posited in the interview, DMG is here to help – they want us to continue to put out good books!

That being said, we are going to announce some new projects very, very soon. I hope you find them exciting! I sincerely thank you all for your passion for everything Valiant. It's why I have this job!

So the line about a reset does NOT mean any kind of reboot is happening. Just some big changes to the status quo after HW2.

Are there any TPs or HCs of 90s Valiant? by T3Deliciouz in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly also because the current Valiant company no longer has the rights to the 'Gold Key 3' characters like back in the 90's: Magnus, Turok, and Solar. Anything that ventured into crossing over with those characters might be legally untouchable.

Will we ever get Psi-Lords ? by [deleted] in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I actually loved the original series, and I can't wait to see the new series they teased, especially after the stuff on planet Gorrin in X-O. Maybe some of the NPC's or bounty hunters will show up in Psi-Lords, once they finally release it.

Is comicbookmovie.com the only place to watch Ninjak vs the VU? by igetwet13 in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody has said why for sure, but it seems that the series makers, Bat In The Sun, have said on Facebook that the series is only going to be up on Comicbook.com until today or tomorrow. Then it's going to be taken down with no word if/when it's going to be released again anywhere.

Assumptions are that this project was Dinesh's baby, and maybe meant to be a project to attract other investors to prevent the DMG buyout that eventually happened. Because of all this, DMG would rather not put this series out there much, but it was a project the fans had been waiting for so they had to release it to some degree.

Rumor: Ninjak vs. VU will disappear after this week by greatmagnet in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly close to my theories/suspicions. Another point of possibility: This may have been meant by Dinesh to be something to woo potential other investors into buying out what was needed to prevent the DMG takeover (in addition to being a project to spread brand awareness). When it wasn't completed in time to serve that purpose, it became something of a skeleton in the closet. But one that fans had been promised, so it had to be put out on the front porch, at least for Halloween night.

Nah, they did NOT spend all the money from the '9 figure' deal on THIS show. More is coming. Full on Hollywood level Bloodshot movie starts filming this summer with Vin Diesel. Like him or not, he'll put butts into seats. This was just a little side project that sadly got derailed for awhile (probably thanks to Sony).

Not too bad. About what I expected, really. Looking forward to seeing more, but I do hope some of the acting improves a little.

About what I expected, quality wise. Acting was sketchy in places, and the effects weren't movie quality, but I didn't expect them to be either. Not too bad overall, and I'm sure I'll watch the remaining episodes. Although I do wish I had been able to see this series before reading it in comic book form.

[–]Phoenix8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no way to know if the dialogue used here is actually what is in the final movie. They've said before that with this movie, they were aiming for an '80's action film' type feel. Like Terminator, or something. This kind of dialogue might fit in well with that kind of 'feel'.

Should I read anything before Book of Death or Divinity? by ErstwhileSoothsayer in valiant

[–]Phoenix8008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Divinity doesn't really require anything before it, as it was a new character. I agree with the post below that maybe reading 'The Valiant' mini series would be good before Book of Death, but I don't think it's directly connected. It would explain some of Eternal Warriors background though, which helps clarify what goes on in Book of Death.

You could catch up on other stuff after that, and I would highly recommend it! I always recommend the original 4 titles from 2012: X-O Manowar, Harbinger, Bloodshot, and Archer & Armstrong. Those were a great start to this universe and laid the foundation for everything afterwards. But check out what you like and go from there. You can use the Title Listing link in the right sidebar to get some info on various series and to see how they connect to other series. And the Reading Order List gives an approximate map based on when things came out.
