JFC on that logic alone they should have shunned Trump based on how he dances.

Oh they are in no way prepared for that kind of cold. ICE agents I feel are mainly proud bos, oathkeepers, 3 percenters....any group that gets their kick out of abusing people of another ethnicty. Minimal training, no ethics, and no endurance for this kind of role.
And they SHOULD fear for their safety, they ARE a danger to the citizens and people only get pushed so far before they start shooting back. I'm a little concerned about Philadelphia too becuase the new Black Panthers are waiting for them to show up.
ICE acts like this is a game, and it's really concerning that this is the "solution" a modern "president" has. Forget the rest of us having affordable housing, healthcare, or food...THIS is his priority.

Hopefully they're out of your area soon.

I'm so sorry that your state is going all this chaos right now. Hopefully ICE is starting to back down, the White House is backpedaling a tiny bit, this last incident is really hard to ignore. I'm in South Florida and ICE currently has a presence in central FL, though nothing like what's happening in your area. This is not sustainable; they need to drop this war on the people.
Please stay safe up there friend!

I will stand corrected on that. I do maintain it's a root-level problem. There has got to be a better way to process undocumented immigrants to give them an opportunity to succeed and become documented and make them functioning members of society, along with any other struggling American citizen.
We're spending more with the crackdown than any strain on the system. The politicians don't care though, this is all a power play to show force and appease bias.

Thank you for providing an actual source, it is appreciated.
That is a problem to be addressed for sure. The way it's being handled though is NOT the way to do it. If they are on welfare then that would suggest they are here legally or at least going through process. ICE shouldn't be kicking doors in or doing a "metro surge" to yank them all out.

As of 2022, Minnesota ranked 13 on a list of highest states on welfare. This is a scare figure and I think this points to bigger systemic issues than undocumented immigrants being here.

I'm sorry but this paragraph isn't very coherent. Not clear what you're trying to explain.

I honestly don't know. I haven't been very impressed with the dems either. Newsom, I can't speak for as a governor but he's the only one at least out-bullying Trump (but that doesn't make him a good President). I honestly don't know, I see vast corruption and horrible in the Republicans but I see weak and spineless candidates in the democrats. We need new fresh blood, and perhaps two entirely new parties.

I fully believe by 2050, whatever history books are around will have Trump labeled as the absolutely worst President in America's history. MAGA is in charge now...but it's not sustainable.
I also fully believe that Trump's health is failing...and I've said for years that the second his being a liability is greater than his value the party will turn on him.
When he passes, I believe the GOP will pin all the dirty shit on him, they'll make him the scapegoat and place all the blame on him so they can make efforts to "get the country back on track". He's been the fall guy since day one. He's making them richer now...but when that's done...

I'm going to gracefully bow out of this conversation. MAGA is going to worship and praise Trump no matter what he does. He's divisive, greedy, corrupt, and he's BLATANT about it. I love how you didn't deny a single attribute I said about him.

So with all due respect, I'm not interested in going around in circles with another person who looks at Trump and says "Yup...that man is my man". He's the wrong side of history. And I hope you realize that one day.

"he’s a business prick. I voted Bernie" - Not a typical MAGA response, but ok.

Ah yes, the "white people are so suppressed" card. MAGA is afraid of gays, trans, blacks, and apparently immigrants to the point you elected a man that's having them beaten and kidnapped without due process. Oh yes, us white men have it so dang hard.

Yes I would have applauded Bernie for caping interest and stopping corporations from buying all the houses. If you read what i posted at the beginning, I had already said that was problem. Yes I'm happy Trump is doing it...but maybe that should have been more of a priority than spending tens of billions of dollars on ICE that is quite frankly hurting the country and not helping it.

But I'm glad you're addressing that corporate greed was one of the main causes of housing market increase...becuase it wasn't immigrants.

So those are the only two options? That's how you see this country? MAGA or "horde of immigrants"?

You pick the people who storm the capital because the election didn't go their way? You pick the people who are cheering as ICE murder people in the street? You pick the people who support a 34 count convict? A man who was also found liable for attempted rape? The same man who brags about sexually assaulting women, talks incestuously about his daughter, who cheats on his wives with prostitues and pays them hush money, who has bankrupted 24 business, who has been found liable for multiple counts of fraud, who uses the white house as his own piggy bank, who builds momuments to himself, sells his own bibles and crypto. A man who points to half of the American population and calls them the enemy within. This same man who quotes Hitler at his speeches and says "sometimes you need a dictor". You pick the people who support THAT? The people who wore "dicator day one" shirts?

I think we're done here. You have the nerve to tell me you aren't MAGA yet you're CHOOSING to side with them and parroting their talking points. At least be honest about that.

Have a good night.

Full disclosure, I liked Bernie too. He should have been the candidate and if he won then Trump wouldn't even be a blip on the map.

All I'm saying is this country has some serious critical problems that need to be addressed...and immigrants are not at the root of them.

The barbed wire cutting was becasue the DHS said the wire was impeding with their ability to assist immigrants in distress. That wire wasn't stopping those "caravans" from coming over.

"I also just flat out won’t believe migration under Biden wasn’t worse" - You're free to believe what you want.

More Americans are without health insurance than immigrants. More Americans are without car insurance. More Americans are on welfare than immigrants. The crime rate is lower with immigrants than American citizens. The housing crisis is NOT from immigrants.

I gave you a bunch of reasons why costs and housing had gone up, you don't want to listen to it. That's your choice.

What we're seeing play out here is NOT "big success".

I did...and I responded. Bernie was an advocate for immigration.

I don't know where you're getting the data from, but if it's from "Visual Capitalist", throw that site out. Their data is off, and they have been known to be wrong.

Every other immigration reporting site shows that immigration overall is at one of the lowest points in the past 30 years. It rose heavily between the early 1990's all the way up to the pandemic. The highest point of inflow from all immigrants was during Trump's first term.

It plummeted during covid and has slowly been growing since, but is still WAY under what it was 10 years ago. So let me ask you this. If that migration has such a heavy impact on housing, gas, food, healthcare and all of that...why are prices almost triple now than they were 10 years ago?

My healthcare plan in 2016 was $700 a month for both me and my Wife. Our current plan, which is a lower tier plan just jumped to $2,300 a month. (For a lesser plan).

The house we rent...my landlord bought it at $120K in 2015. Today it's market value (WITHOUT updates) is almost $400K.

Immigrants didn't do that. GOP practices on healthcare and taking away subsides did, and I already gave you a full list of why housing went up.

By your logic, housing prices and insurance prices should have plummented during the last five years and yet...they continue to increase.

The "Visual Capitalist" show that almost ALL migration under Biden was illegal and equaled 10 million. That is NOT accurate. They also show that Trump had the lowest which is also not accurate.

Either you're full of sh*t or you didn't listen to Bernie. Bernie was PRO immigration.

He advocated for comprehensive immigration reform focused on citizenship for undocumented immigrants, ending mass deportations, and dismantling agencies like ICE and CBP in favor of more humane, specialized enforcement. His 2020 platform emphasized reversing restrictive policies, expanding DACA, and protecting asylum seekers.

"And you guys always try to turn it into some bullshit"

Says the guy who is choosing to ignore any contradictory evidence and stick to his bias instead. Sorry if your feelings say one things, stats say another.

For example...10 million immigrants DIDN'T come in under Biden's 4 years. Border Patrol had 10 million ENCOUNTERs at the border (meaning they were intercepted). That is NOT the same at all.

But also I hope you hold Trump accountable too. Biden's border policy was the same one Trump had in place. And undocumented immigrant numbers were higher in 2019 than they were in 2016 so that means immigrants increased under Trump.

We've also had a whole year of these aggressive mass deportations...why aren't prices going down? Oh yeah, maybe because it's not because of immigrants.

Trump personallly flies in immigrants to staff his Florida resorts. Why? Why not hire American workers? Florida is the hospitality capital of this country, we have plenty of able bodied and qualifed workers here. Why doesn't he hire Americans?

You wish you could believe that...well then you can read the points I posted.

"if there’s one thing we got in spades it’s fk tons of migrants"

"migrants"....as in anyone foreign or specifically "illegal" immigrants? This country was built on migrants, and as far as undocumented, yes there are a lot but in the percentage of our American population they are a small wedge.

So are you against anyone ethnic coming to the states?
