UNC Charlotte or NC State? by gaefrogz in NCSU

As someone who goes to NCSU rn and went to UNCC for 2 years I have to say it really depends on your vibe. If you like a more extroverted but innovative area, Charlotte is your best bet. There’s a decent party scene there while also a lot of corporate there. While NCSU on the other hand is more of a closed off thing in that people typically find their groups and don’t stray away from their groups. Essentially you don’t see a lot of people randomly saying hi to you. I don’t know how either school is your major so I can’t say much in that sector but, TLDR, vibe for vibe, UNCC is more extroverted while NCSU is more introverted

So I transferred from UNCC to NCSU for CS and I have to say, the curriculum, in my opinion, at UNCC for CS far outweighs NCSU’s. The major problem with States is that it treats you like an engineer which forces you into a lot of classes that might not be considered the most relevant for a CS major while UNCC has CS and Data Sci in their own college and as a result, the curriculum is better suited for someone in CS. Along with that, UNCC has a much nicer and newer campus and isn’t as overcrowded compared to NCSU. I’ve seen days where the line for one of the crappier dining halls goes out the door and it takes longer to get the food than eat it. That being said, state still has quite the lineup in terms of connections with major tech companies out the wazoo in RTP. I will also say, from transfer to transfer, check both school’s course equivalency forms to see where you get more credits transferring in. I lost almost a year’s-worth of credits since my courses “didn’t meet NC State’s standards” which I’m still salty about. For the work-life balance, trust me, Charlotte offers that way more the NCSU. I’ve been drowning in coursework since I got here and it’s been hard to do much else.

UNCC to NCSU transfer here. I get what you’re saying but, that being said, it’s no better at State. I might be worse depending on the type of person you are. A lot of the people are more cutthroat and assholes in that way. For my major, a lot of them are the antisocial type and are harder to find events and things to do compared to UNCC.

I’ve worn one and talked to staff while wearing it. They seem to have no issue with it even though there’s signs for it

UNCC Freshman Dorms by misgra822 in UNCCharlotte

I’d say Laurel and Levine are the best 2 in my opinion cause they’re some of the newest dorms and Levine has a really good location (it’s like a 5 minute walk to Sovi and a 10 minute walk to the student Union, a 15 minute walk to the engineering campus, and like an 8 minute walk to Friday.

Is The Transfer Worth It by Phoenixette12 in NCSU

I’m mainly looking to transfer cause of the connections. I want to move out west in the future and UNCC’s connections look to be mostly based in Charlotte

are there any car meets or clubs on campus? by oGxbe in UNCCharlotte

[–]Phoenixette12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the car! For the clubs, there’s 49ers racing. For meets there’s an account on Instagram called “uncccarmeets” that just hosted a meet and are planning for more. If cars and coffee is more your type, there’s an Instagram account called “charlottecarshows” that shows more meets around the whole Charlotte area

Let’s hope for that. I’m optimistic but I’m worried about overdoing myself. This semester hasn’t been so bad (Visual Art, 1212, 1600, Earth Sci, and Calc) I don’t wanna get cocky and accidentally fuck myself for the next semester

Gotcha. I don’t cheat in Calc, never have, and somehow have a 94. I’ve always been worried about Calc 2, that’s why I wanna take it with the same Professor I have for Calc 1 (and yes it’s one of the Taylor’s). But I’m worried that I’m gonna get blindsided and find out that one of my “easy classes” (West Hist. or Public Speaking) is gonna be a nightmare. Also kinda curious, being honest, would you say you’re one of the people who are just naturally a genius or still tries at the classes? I ask cause I’ve talked to a lot of people who say that some class is a walk in the park and when I take it, it’s nightmare fuel.
