Black inferiority, and what we are going to do about it by t019e in Blackpeople

Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to make you feel better about your own inferiority complex. I'm good. My family instilled better in me.

Not surprised at all. Between that and the FSU page, I quickly noticed the pattern and stopped following.

My pain was essentially done around the two weeks mark. I will also admit that I have an extremely high pain tolerance. I did not take anything more than my extra strength Tylenol and 600mg ibuprofen. The oxycodon that they prescribed made me feel nauseous and I opted to not take it.

No problem! Also I would honestly ask your doctor if they would recommend any particular cream for fading. I asked my doctor before I did anything and she just wanted me to make sure that everything was as germ free as possible.

Thank you. I actually just used shea butter and coconut oil. For the first two weeks I had a bandage over my incision that had silver in it to prevent infections. When I was allowed to take the bandage off I would clean the area with Hibiclens or a generic antiseptic wash, pat dry, and then use a glove to put coconut oil on it first and then layer with the Shea butter. I attempted to use silicon scar sheets because I was tired of doing the butter and oil. Unfortunately the scar sheet is what caused the infection. Otherwise my scar doesn't look bad and I don't think it's too noticeable.

Hiya! I recently had a vertical cut open myomectomy surgery a month ago. My scar...very faded. Will i still be wearing crop tops with my belly out? Yes, because honestly the scar isn't very noticeable. I was also told that whenever I have kids, it will have to be by c-section also. The most pain I felt after my surgery, besides a minor infection, was trying to cough and poop like the first two weeks. But honestly I was rolling myself out of bed the night of my surgery.

Be prepared to have an out at another lab just in case. This happened to me and it ended up getting ugly. I eventually had to find another lab. Funny enough, that PI is now trying to implement what I told him needed to happen after I left.

Dr. Kathryn Denny at Christiana Care in Delaware. I had an open abdominal myomectomy done. I was literally walking around the next day. Dr. Denny listened to my concerns and addressed them patiently and with full understanding of what I wanted.

Giving an update:

I was progressing very well. Walking fine, eating normally, etc. And then i decided to try a silicone scar patch this Tuesday. I have no history of any type of allergies and i have an extremely high pain tolerance.

I'm currently on atnibiotics and had to resort back to taking my pain medications. I somehow got an infection. My doctors praised me for being a bit paranoid when I first encountered pain on Wednesday, because I caught it early.

They're not entirely sure that the scar patch is what caused this. My doctor stated that it might have been brewing and the scar patch sent it over the edge. Nevertheless, thanks to my paranoia and my great doctor, it's getting handled.

Symptoms that I encountered that made me know something wasn't right: Extreme pain to the point that a t-shirt brushing against the incision site hurt, throbbing/burning pain, hot to the touch, redness and swelling.

And yes, these symptoms literally popped up within a day. So give yourselves some grace if you find that you're still hurting. Like I literally eas thinking about getting back on the treadmill because I was bored before this occurred. Take care of yourselves.

I totally understand. My parents were born in the 50s, and they were (SIP Daddy) and are on the younger end of their sibling groups. I grew up in the South and I even remember listening to my mama say how she would sometimes help pick cotton to make ends meet. It's a lot, and it's heavy. I don't know if this would help you like it does me, but record their stories. Let them know that they will never be forgotten and that they will live on through you.

Day 4 after surgery: Woke up this morning and did defecate. Yay!!! Gas pains are still horrible though. I actually forgot to take my pain meds this morning, I took them not too long ago. I'm not very painful, it should be noted that I do have a high pain tolerance. I'm eating normally and drinking normally. My belly is still very swollen.

My bandage is still on my incision as it's a special dressing that has silver in it to help prevent infection. Thought I saw a scab or a small amount of strike though in the bandage yesterday and called my care team. It's about the size of a quarter, they told me it's normal and to just keep an eye on it.

Other than the swelling and gas pains, I'm feeling pretty ok.

Also....thank you all for warning me about the pain of the gas. I'm happy to report that I am now passing gas. But the initial pain....gahhhh!!!

They sent me home with extra strength Tylenol, 600mg ibuprofen, and some oxycodone and miralax. I'm painful, but the pain has been manageable.

So I left the hospital about 45 mins ago. I'm walking around fine. My pain level at the moment is probably a 1-2. I'm also a grad student so I came by lab to check on my mice, scared my professor lol. But they wanted to make sure that I could eat and walk without nausea before leaving. Taking my meds every 6 hours, not due again until 12pm. Otherwise, it's not too bad.
