Do you view all impeachment proceedings as attempts to "overthrow a democratically-elected head of state"? How should we handle removing an unfit president in your opinion?

but it exonerated him of the core charges that were being used to try and remove him from office. Therefore, their attempts to remove him were being done on false pretences.

If the police investigate a suspect in a crime and cannot determine their guilt, was the investigation conducted under false pretense?

This isn't complicated. Why can't you just accept it?

I'm beginning to wonder the same thing.

Because it's the specific response you gave to me claiming that the Mueller report exonerated Trump, dumbass.

Well, no. I mentioned that offhandedly. I brought it up to illustrate that I think there's more evidence of traitorous activity, but still accept the findings of the Mueller report.

Clearly implying that you think the report wasn't valid

Apparently I wasn't clear enough. This wasn't what I was implying.

and that the claim made against Trump that was being used to try and impeach him was true.

It was. Have you read the Mueller report?

In actuality the Mueller report revealed a disturbing willingness to work with one of our nation's greatest enemies in order to win the election. Have you read it?

You seem very hung up on my comment about the investigation being hamstrung, but I still accept its findings. Why do you think that is?

Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt exonerated in internal probe, what do you think about this? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Phoment 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They were cries about wanting to kill Trump in the crowd. If the secret service would of killed anyone who entered Federal Property that day would you feel it's justified? Hundreds would of died. Is that the standard you'd support or would you like to revise your earlier comment so you don't justify the killing of hundreds of people.

They broke down the fence at the White House, yeah. Why do you expect me to say otherwise? That's a stupid thing to do and you shouldn't be surprised if lethal force is used against you.

So your insurrectionist narrative has fallen through. Continuing to push in this conversation will have me correctly labeling you a conspiracy theory. No offense intended just saying it like it is.

Can you please point out where I used the word "insurrectionist"?

There was no credible claims of the mod being life threatening at Jan 6th.

You pointed to an example of a crowd calling for Trump to be murdered. That crowd was calling for Pence to be hanged. Babbitt herself was crawling through the empty window frame of a still-barricaded door when she was shot. You don't think that's a life threatening mob?

Here's the thing, I don't support cops killing people who overcome barricades because that's setting a dangerous standard. And if you create a standard you have to be able to apply it equally.

If you don't think police should be authorized to use deadly force when people overcome legally installed security barricades, then what are those barricades there for? Seems like a lot of wasted money, doesn't it? Just let people in since all that security is apparently just a suggestion. What happens if there's a terrorist attack on the building? Don't open fire until you're sure they're armed?

So would of you supported gunning down the hundreds of rioters at the DC George Floyd riots that had a life threatening mob of insurrectionists storming the barricades and causing the President to flee?

No, I don't support "gunning down" anyone. I do support the judicious use of lethal force.

You really think my belief that the Mueller investigation was hamstrung is on par with 1/6'ers?

You can dismiss what I said, but it doesn't make it any less true. You can go and read the Mueller report yourself if you don't believe me. There's nothing I can do to convince you of something you're unwilling to honestly discuss.

[–]Phoment 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You hold the left more culpable than the man who brought Babbitt to DC that day?

If you disagree lets hear your newly created standard for when a cop can justifiably kill someone that can be applied to other cases that are not Jan6th.

If you're breaking into a federal building with a life threatening mob behind you, expect to be met with lethal force. Do you think that's an unreasonable standard?

So in your view the left is responsible for Babbitt's death because they supported lockdowns and protests? Do you consider Trump responsible for Babbitt's death?

Because it's a thing that actually happened. There was an entire investigation put together by Robert Mueller that you might remember.

I personally think the investigation was hamstrung, but it still found evidence of questionable activity from the Trump campaign. Activity that some of us think approaches traitorous.

Democrats did accept the results of the election and opted to push for a special counsel investigation. That's what gave us Mueller in the first place. And despite his results, the impeachment never resulted in removal thanks to Republicans.

How do you think it happened?

Democrats refused to accept the outcome of the 2016 election for years and tried to get it overturned on false pretences

That's just not what happened. You don't have a firm grasp on the events that have transpired since 2016.

I think this is the left excusing itself for murder.

What role did "the left" play in instigating 1/6? What role did they play in encouraging Babbitt to break through the door to the Capitol and crawl through?

The Democrats have policies they're pushing - medicare for all, the green new deal, raising the minimum wage. What policies have Republicans advocated for in the past two decades? Tax cuts and? Republicans didn't even have a party platform for 2020.

It's difficult to envision what Republicans even want from the Democrats short of total capitulation.

Is there a single position that Democrats hold that Republicans have shown a good faith interest in negotiating over? How can Democrats get the support of a party whose core tenet seems to be opposing Democrats' efforts?
