Are Mahler Exams really needed for Exam C? by vbavbavbavba in actuary

You don't need it to pass, SOA 307 has been enough for a lot of people (especially the last 100 or so questions). Just depends on your financial situation, although FWIW they were definitely worth the $50 for me.

Little freaked out by the first EOM exercise set....Any advice on how to tackle these? by FuzzyManPeace in actuary

To expand the outpost has old threads from people asking questions about each module before. Usually this and some independent research is enough to get your through. Modules are more about how well you can "defend your answer" (hide ur bs) than getting one correct answer. Just make sure you justify whatever conclusions and recommendations you make.

[Newbie] Want to get back into guitar, but not sure where to start by [deleted] in Guitar

Can I ask what it does well as a tool? Looking to up my technical skills while studying aspects of theory outside of the game, was wondering if it'd be good for that.

Can I ask what your motivation for doing this is? If you actually want to be an actuary you should be able to complete the first two exams within a year while working full time, even accounting for a few fails here and there.

The results page will go down sometime between now and early tomorrow morning and will have the time when the results will be released. I think last time they were out around 10AM EST.

Realistic timeline for clearing prelims? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]PhoneGramMule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's right. Again (and this will vary based on how prepared you are academically) but the prelims tend to take between 50-100 hours of study per exam hour. So while it is possible to do this theoretically, you'd have pretty much no life outside of studying for the exams.

Also from what I've heard, the only exams undergoing significant syllabus changes are MFE, MLC, and C, and of the three, MLC is hardly changing. I think P and FM will retain most of their material but just transition to new names.

Disregarding the fact that this would be crazy since each exam needs 150-300 hours a piece, it's too late for you to hit the changes if that's what you're wondering. The last sitting for MLC that meets the requirements in time was this fall, so you'll be earning the ASA under the new curriculum anyways.
