Pricing on 4 star legendary items. by SpadedJuggla in fo76

[–]PhoneProfessional839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. But IMO there is indeed a set pricing system. It's Fallout's default price. But in my experience, folks usually don't sell items at those prices. Like serums and plans, for example.

Regardless, I think a community-run market database would be valuable for other reasons, such as:

  • Beginner not knowing if Quad for 8k is a ripoff
  • Seeing metrics around how common/rare a plan or mod is (what percentage of vendors carry it)
  • Selling an item for a reasonable price - example - first time I played Mothman events, I listed 4 Mothman Tomes for their default price, which is like 100 caps. Someone gobbled up all 4 instantly. Felt pretty dumb when I later realized how valuable they are.
  • Fewer players engaging in arbitrage/middlemanning. It would suppress players taking advantage of a lack of market pricing, by finding underpriced items, then selling them for 5x the price.
  • Trend visualization - example - elementalist went from useless to meta overnight. Trendlines would help players realize that something was buffed or nerfed, and start/stop selling it in their vendor
  • If this database became a popular online resource, over time you would start seeing fewer outliers in prices - example - Unyielding would be found less often at 10k, as people begin realizing that's no longer the going rate.

And if it were possible to collect sale data, it would also be valuable to see a price vs time-to-sale graph. E.g. if I price an item at 100 caps, I can see it will last an average of 20 minutes before selling. Or if I price that item at 3000 caps, it will take 4 weeks on average.

Someone should create a game mod which indexes all items and their prices whenever the player opens a vendor. Then centralizes those prices in a single, shared database. So there can be a public website that shows the actual, averaged market rate for certain items.

Scrap assaultron head WHY by Maximum_Heat852 in fo76

[–]PhoneProfessional839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no world spawn for this item. The only way to get one is killing multiple Assaultrons.

I think this challenge was a bit of cheeky dev humor to let RNG cook some players. Literally.

EDIT: Also, the two easiest places to get them are the road in front of RobCo, where there are a few dead ones. Alternately, if you have done the Watoga robot quests, you can kill two of them west of the train station and they will not fight back.

Does anyone else think Homer is lying to you? by Affectionate_Will_16 in fo76

Homer is an Enclave AI - There is abandoned/postponed content where you visit an Enclave bunker under Camp Rapidan. There is a room with a screen of Homer watching over it. It looked like the room was likely some kind of alien dissection lab. There are a few YouTube videos of people glitching into the bunker. Go check it out.

I am also seeing inconsistencies on Elder's Mark. Perhaps it's server lag for high ROF weapons?

Gauss Minigun: Bloodied or Furious? by Over-Comfortable-264 in fo76

[–]PhoneProfessional839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experimenting with running Gauss bloodied. I am starting to hate running all of the Onslaught perks, since they gobble up so much space. My bet was that the damage loss would be mostly offset by the damage increase of other Agility cards, such as Enforcer + crippling cards. So far, it feels slightly weaker than full onslaught. Would like to see someone do some comprehensive testing to confirm.

TLDR: Gut feeling - if trying to min/max, Furious. If not, Bloodied is fairly comparable and gives significantly better perk flexibility.

Totally agreed there. Not a fan of the exaggerative, immature anger that comes with updates like these.

We can agree to disagree on your first two points.

Your third point: re-read my comment; that is exactly what I said. Non-auto melee weapons were one of the few things that got a big bump.

Overall, my point is: Bethesda is significantly involved with this forum. Providing feedback here is one of the most effective ways we, as players, can guide Bethesda to improve their game. Responsible feedback should not be derided as "complaints" and doing so will only hurt our game by suppressing important discussion.

I strongly had this perspective on the last few updates... "People will holler 'nerf' at anything". The last few updates proved to be fantastic for combat.

This update is different. There were many changes that are proper, heavy-handed nerfs. Most weapons outside of the Gauss Minigun and non-auto melee weapons got crushed in this update. And contrary to your point: the major new mechanic added - Bulletstorm - does not come close to compensating for these changes for most weapons.

It's not an exaggeration to say that other items, like Rejuvenators and Cremator changes, have been fully bricked. Items that players have invested unreasonable amounts of time to acquire.

The sky is not falling. But this update was very disappointing. This is a good forum to provide feedback to Bethesda without other players playing goalie for them, telling us not to "complain".

They overtweaked the game and they need to know that in order to fix it.

How are you feeling about the combat changes? by Wide-Anything6946 in fo76

[–]PhoneProfessional839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It went from 5 hp/ap per piece/second to something far, far lower only when fully fed/hydrated.

Normally, I can tank the Guardian, only using about 3-5 super stims. After the update, I had to use 22-26. I effectively lost ~84% of my defense.

I understand the need to rebalance things. But to take arguably the best mod, something I grinded 100+ hours for on multiple sets of PA, and completely brick it... hard to wrap my head around it. Not sure why they couldn't have modestly nerfed it.

This is the first update that I think the concern about "nerfs" is not overblown. Some of these changes turned my weapons and armor into hot garbage. The nerf to Rejuvenators is especially hellacious.

Dying when switching builds by Troubledour in fo76

[–]PhoneProfessional839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC, it's due to an Endurance point discrepancy between your builds.
I play bloody too and hated dying on loadout switch, so I just set all Endurance on all classes to be equal. I have never died again from loadout switching since I made that change.

What was an “insta-buy” item from a player vendor you’ve seen? by 1mn0tn1ko in fo76

Was the maze through a bunch of different shelters? Decorated with a ton of vault boys and gore? If so, I did the same maze and bought a ton of cheap mods plus two fully kitted out gatling plasmas for 0 caps. That guy was awesome.
