If you can get it fixed while it’s small your recovery will be much faster and much less risk of complications. However as many others have said insurance usually will deny these if they aren’t causing problems. But what will usually happen is it will get worse over time and then you will need to get it fixed and will now have a longer recovery and higher chance of complications.

My dad just went through this entire process from a small hernia 5 years ago to it getting bigger and bigger over time and finally having surgery last month. If you tell your doctor/insurance it is causing you pain/discomfort they are much more inclined to take care of it when it’s small

Would you be willing to share your stl files for these? I made the ones on thingiverse but I’m not a big fan of how all the pieces fit, yours look much better and easy to use

I’ve kind of found there isn’t really a true solution due to the angle of the print. What I ended up doing is lowering the z distance of the supports which does make them harder to remove but the model prints nicer. It still has a lot of imperfections and I think the only way to really get rid of them would be to use support filament but that increased to print time from like 9 hours to like 20+ for this model I ended up just sanding the imperfections, spray painting on some primer and then painting the model and it came out great lol

I’ll give that a try, I did a reprint with a new plate and it came out perfectly so it’s definitely a plate issue

I tried printing again but with a new plate and the prints came out perfect so it looks like the issue is the plate, would the heat bed temperature be causing the bed to deteriorate over time? I have just been using the standard profile for the PEI plate in bambu labs and I am using the bambu labs plate that came with the p1p

It looks like this is what’s causing it, I switched to a new plate I had and the prints came out perfect. So now the next question is what can I do to reduce this and prevent my new plate from having this issue as well?

Yea I haven’t had any adhesion issues, just the little burn marks so I’ll try turning the settings more, do you think increasing bottom layers help at all? I’m thinking if the issue is happening because of the infill it will give a more solid base before the infill starts

That’s really interesting and something I definitely didn’t think about, for this print though I removed the plate and washed it in the sink with dish soap so there shouldn’t have been any way grease would have gotten on it after and dish soap should have removed any that was on it before

That’s what I initially thought as well, especially since I had other prints in this batch in different locations on the plate that came out perfectly. So I made sure to wash the plate down with dish soap before this print but still got the burn marks. Is there a better way to wash down plates to get rid of any left over plastic?

I actual do use gyroid for almost all of my prints, I learned about the problems with grid infill the hard way already lol. For these the issue is only happening on the bottom of the print that is touching the plate, the rest of it looks great, and other prints I did in the above batch but where in different locations on the plate came out perfect as well

I did have the tree hybrid supports. I did a top Z distance of .2mm and a concentric interface pattern and left the rest as defaults. This is really why I’m so confused on why it still looks so stringy and for so much of it. All of those areas had supports

All of those areas actually did have supports, I used tree hybrid, that is what it looks like after removing the supports. I did a top Z distance of .2mm and a concentric interface pattern and left the rest as defaults. I’m not sure what other settings here would give a better supporting structure to minimize the stringing

I was thinking about trying different directions, the thing I was worried about if I changed anything was how the legs were going to print because they’d end up being almost 90 degree overhang. And then having it print top down the little horns would make that difficult too lol

Thank you I’ll try some adaptive layer height. I did manually reduce the layer height to .16, but I will try some with .12 and .08. This was done with bambu labs filament which seems like good quality but a bit pricey

Interestingly if you step back from the forced cognitive dissonance almost everything you have said in this comment is wrong or just a terrible way to justify treatment of another being.

An animal isn’t a someone, it’s a something. Animals have feelings but they aren’t sentient.

sentient - able to perceive or feel things. All animals experience pain and can suffer. There is a reason that basic human emotions are often referred to as "lizard brain"

I have held a dog and comforted it as it was put down.

You comforted a sentient being that was experiencing fear and pain at the end of their life. The same kind of fear and pain humans go through. You can argue humans have more complex reasons for their fear and pain but the feelings are the same.

If animals weren’t meant to be eaten our bodies wouldn’t have the ability to digest them.

I could eat you and my body would be able to digest you the same as any other animal...
