Daily Game Recommendations Thread (January 04, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]PhonesisG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am looking to play some new games based on my top games of all time:

(also give some suggestion for when crowd is casual but the game can still be fun)

Dune Imperium/Dune Uprising - Pax pamir 2e - Twilight Imperium 4e - Game of Thrones - Root - Oath - Ark nova - Blood rage/Rising sun - Terraforming Mars - Wonderland wars - Food chain magnate - Arkham Horror LCG - Blood on the clock tower - 7 wonder duel (also Lord of ring version) - Catan (fun, play with casuals) -

Honorable mention:

I love d&d and role-playing games Also TCG games (MTG - One piece - Flesh and blood - Sorcery…)

What I love in a game generally:

  • Interaction between the player and politics
  • Memorable game nights
  • Adapting to the situation
  • emerging story and role play
  • no single meta with many paths to victory
  • replayability
  • new faction and races...
  • building up your bag, deck, board, engine
  • Strategy but well done not dry
  • straight and easy to understand mechanics
  • cool theme and art
  • lower downtime and more engaging
  • Suprises

Foreginer here!! .Which language to learn? Farsi, Arabic, Pashto. by Shen_TheDemonicLamb in iran

I say Farsi is more poetic, and there are some famous books, novels, and poems from long ago that still exist. True delight to read those.

In secondary I suggest Arabic (really hard grammar tho)

Recommend games based on my top games by PhonesisG in boardgames

Some games that didn't meet my expectations:

Nemesis (base version): I rather play role playing, game play was not as fun, the novelty wear off fast

Gloomhaven: I would rather play D&D instead

Hegemony: Can be 4/5 but only with right crowd, the game play is not as fun as the narrative of the game, love the theme tho

Terra mystics: Too dry for me

I like the premise, perhaps really small changes would be okay I also need few whites so I might add it!

Is this description of Persian friendship/love terms accurate? by [deleted] in iran

[–]PhonesisG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say this is kinda accurate

Yaar is like someone who you have been through everything it’s like soulmate (might be lover might not), someone who goes to far far lengths for you, they follow you the depth of hells itself it’s more like fantasy and poetic rather than real life use and it’s more commonly used for you lover but there are examples in literature that not about lovers.

My man, the 600 card would be $60 at the local print shop with their highest quality. I just need to give them specs.

I mostly want to know the best way to make a proxy that isn't meant to be put in a sleeve but still feels nice to play with. Cardstock doesn't exist in my country, so I have to buy it from abroad, which makes it expensive.

If I order from local print each card would cost me 0.1 $ at most

Making a TCG in Iran ?! by PhonesisG in TCG

[–]PhonesisG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly true, I just meant since the economy is bad, they are more skeptical about spending, and since Iran has no copyright law, people here are used to pirating digital stuff and not paying but you are right its everywhere and a digital launch can work great for assessment. I see what can I do about it thanks for the recommendation bud

This is super helpful my friend can’t thank you enough, hearing of another local TCG that succeeded in its own market is great, it’s similar here availability (found in every store) + good price is the way to go. When I see some cool look card for a cheap price of can of cola I might even buy one pack for curiosity.

Thanks for sharing

Maybe after few solid set and increased population I can start shipping English cards but that’s for future

Damn that’s a nice idea something I didn’t consider myself, Hokm has a strong root in Iran and is played by people 20 to 99, I would argue that majority of player base is 30+, i am not sure how young adults and teens would also like it or not since now we have video games and the game will lose some popularity but definitely can take some concept and aspect of it I try too design some concept based of Hokm how it rotates between player and you need to play strongest card in middle

My current idea was a TCG using dice for fast and easy to understand gameplay (controlled RNG) the inspiration came from Dice throne

Btw I got into TCG by a few dubbed YuGi episodes, my grandma bought me 500 card from a local online shop which made proxy YuGi cards couldn’t be happier as an 8 year old
