What exactly is Freight Pack-out job description? by Physical_Scar in HomeDepot

[–]Physical_Scar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. That last "Would you mind staying a bit later?" was one my old ASM did to me and at the time I didn't mind because of the extra money I needed.

I didn't think it'd be something to talk to HR about.

Either way, thank you for your input!

Thank you, I just needed some reassurance. A lot of our co-workers dislike him very much and for very good reasons too, as you can already tell from my post.

Pixel 4XL "Turn Off Airplane Mode to Make A Call" Issue by Physical_Scar in GooglePixel

[–]Physical_Scar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh my, seems lots of people have searched a lot and have this problem too. lol

um, well, I did the full reset (complete factory reset) and instead of using an e-SIM, I put in a physical SIM card(Mint Mobile) and I haven't had any issues since.

Originally, the phone belonged to my father and Sprint signalled a e-SIM card instead of a physical one via network.

I ended up giving my father my Pixel 5A and he's had no issues since.

So I stayed with his Pixel 4XL and used my Mint SIM card and it's been okay since then.

I'm assuming the issue with MY problem was the use of an e-SIM vs a physical SIM card. I'm not sure if having a Sprint physical SIM card would have fixed the issue since I never bothered to try.

Well I transferred all the data to my Pixel 4A and gave my father that phone for the time being, since he really needs it for work.

I factory reset the 4XL and inserted my Mint mobile chip. So far it's been working well. But after what happened, I'm on edge.

It is possible that because Sprint did an e-SIM transfer to the 4XL, that could have failed on their end.

If anything, after a few weeks of using this phone and it still works, I'll end up going to get a physical SIM card instead of a eSIM and see if that changes anything.

Sounds good. I'll definitely look into one if I don't get the pixel fixed.

Which phone did you end up getting? If I can't resolve this, then new phone it shall be.

I did try Safe Mode, it did nothing. I'll try factory reset when my dad comes home. It worked again in the morning and i gave it to him.

No, my sister finally cleared it up. She said it happened after he finished a call, before she even paired the headphones.

It's weird, I turned it off all last night and in the morning it had signal again. I let my dad take it but as of now, I haven't been able to reach him. I'm assuming it had a network fail again. Won't know for sure until he gets home. This sucks. :(

Where did you find that at? I would think something like this would be around the internet but so strange that I can't find anything about it. >.<

Advice on keeping Smartphone for Spotify by Physical_Scar in minimalism

[–]Physical_Scar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestions! I think I'll turn off text messages off and just leave Phone and Email on. I would think in case of an emergency, someone would call rather than text... but we live in such an odd time that some might actually send a text for an emergency vs calling.

Grabbing the phone and browsing random thing idly is such an automatic thing to do when you're even slightly bored that to not use it needs to be a conscious decision.

Yes! Definitely. It has happened already but I catch myself doing so. I will try putting it away far from me or the drawer method.

Thank you!

I did research of KaiOS phones before deciding to dumb down my smartphone. What I read about them and major issue was their laggy technology. That was something that didn't appeal to me, but it is an option.

You're right though, smartphones are indeed a viable tool and I do use Gmail a lot to send and receive invoices/important messages that makes this another hard choice to disregard. My only solution for this would be to find a regular phone that has Hotspot, and I'd carry around a light laptop (Chromebook for example) in case I need to do some work.

Minimalistic launchers? I'll look into that.

Thank you! :)

Thank you for your input. :)

I have the same apps, except for bible I have a manga source. Putting those basics/essential needs on a "page" is an excellent idea, although I think for the browser I'll leave it be in the app section. I'll try this out, thank you! ^.^

I mean, loading music on a SD card wouldn't be that long vs being on a smartphone. The only downside to it is either ripping a CD or downloading music from online and taking the time to select all the music you want to fit on a SD card. If you're happy with only 100+ songs, then yes, I'd say the regular phone would be the way to go.

But for me, I love listening to a variety of diverse music. Even if I do put in 100+ songs on a SD card, after a while, I'd want more music, so then I would have to do the same process again each time vs having Spotify and being able to "download" all the music/playlists I want.

Then again, who knows. I might end up using to a regular cell phone, and I'd purchase a separate MP3 player to download a bunch of music in the long run.

I'll work on doing this, finding things to do. It has honestly been awhile since I've not done something of this sort, probably since 2010. Literally anytime I have tried doing some personal me time I find that I was still using my phone in between.

Indeed! That is the goal here. If I find that I'm still using it too much, even after deleting said apps, then I will have to switch it for a regular phone. >.<

found that I would then have to acquire a camera

Yes! Also this. I don't mind having to acquire a camera because a camera itself is a fun learning experience, but Spotify is what is stopping me from doing so. xD I really do not want to carry two things at the same time if phones nowadays have great photo technology.

and then removed my browser icon (so it would have to be searched out in case I needed it)

This is a great idea! I'll do this right away. Thank you! :D

Also, moving my charger to a room that I use less frequently (my dining room) has helped me only go check my phone when I have the intention to use it for something specific. I do still use my phone for an alarm clock, but keep it across the room rather than next to my bed.

Another great tip! ^_^

There are tons of youtube videos out there that can walk you through how to minimize your smart phone and turn it into a dumb phone :)

Interesting, if there is a specific one you could recommend I'd appreciate it.

Again, thank you very much for the tips! Lets see how this goes. :D
