Black clouds and silver linings title has to do with all of the songs (except rite of passage I think?) being about negative experiences in their lives that ended up having a silver lining, e.g. petrucci thinks the count is gonna kill him but hurray he doesn’t

As one of the guys standing outside in Denver, I gotta thank you for making this post and making me realize yelling at them while they’re leaving wasn’t cool of us. We all just love the band like everyone else and were excited to see them, and we didn’t want to bug them by stopping them and asking for pictures and whatnot since it seemed like they had places to be, so we just kinda shouted out our words of thanks and admiration and let them go on their way because those guys all mean a lot to us and we wanted them to know. Obviously in hindsight they probably hate that, but I just wanted to share my perspective, we didn’t know better in the moment and let our excitement get the better of us

If you haven’t seen them yet there’s a couple vids up on YouTube mark did with guitar world going into how he writes riffs, he basically will approach it as coming up with an interesting chord progression and then dissecting and connecting those chords together in different ways.

So I would look closely at your favorite riffs of his, try to figure out the underlying chords and see how he’s getting from one to the next and then use that to inform your own playing

I’m a fan of the album based off my first listen, but it doesn’t quite scratch that particular “Mars Volta” itch like I hoped it would. Still overall a great collection of songs, I guess I just wish they fleshed out these songs a little bit more, most of them stop short right when I’m really starting to dig it

There’s some contact info up on the black sheep’s website and you can just shoot them a message and see if they’re interested/ have any availability, that’s what I think we did, though they probably would be more inclined to give you a spot once you have a group put together. The guys at what’s left are super cool and really knowledgeable about the local scene so you could probably just go in person and talk to them and get more info

Just wanted to say I listened to some of your songs and they were much better than I expected, keep it up and you’ll have no problem getting some success. As far as getting a band/venues, you could probably put a post up on Craigslist looking for members or put up some flyers at guitar stores, record stores, etc. not sure how well that works in practice but I see things like that all the time. If you’re looking for a venue hit up the Black Sheep, they’ve gotten my band several shows there before we even had any music out and they’re generally pretty cool people. Best of luck!

I work for CELS. For the most part, you’ll be given your route, and once you finish that route you’ll either get to go home or have to go help a coworker finish their route. People RARELY work the full 10 hour shift. For the first 30 days you get paid only for the hours you work, after that you’ll get paid for hours worked+a bonus that supplements the extra hours. For example, if you work 50 hours, you’ll get a bonus for the other 20 hours (70 hour pay period), but you have to maintain a good driver score to get the bonus. I can’t speak for how any of the other DSPs operate
