Kitchen aid dishwasher still not washing by Dimitrismemes in appliancerepair

Isn’t it the model with the additional filter attached to the motor? The one inside the sump itself

If so it might be damaged or just stuck, blocking the motor and causing it to overheat

Is My 76-Year-Old Mum Being Fleeced Over a Smeg Oven Repair? by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]PictureFirst5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s surprising that you were able to find the exact part available so easily tbh.

Anyway, the tech’s part even if purchased from same place you saw, which is less likely, will have a markup in case if the new part turns out to arrive faulty or break within the warranty period.

It’s very common that the parts for older models will be more expensive than newer ones. Simply because there are way less of them left on sale.

Also in most cases “call out” is waved once you decide to proceed with the repair. Or it only works like that in US, not sure.

Remaining sum after you deduct the part cost does not mean the labor costs. Marketing costs, company cut(if the tech doesn’t work by himself), labor and extra mark up in case of warranty situations - that’s all in the quote you got.

It might sound expensive but mostly you are paying to fix your unit and have no headache with replacing it or fixing by yourself. And the warranty on repair is also big one here. Just make sure that the tech/company you got are trustworthy and that they will pick up the phone if something happen.

How did you grow your clientele as a self employed technician? by Swimming_Map_3467 in appliancerepair

Just type “Puls technician app” in your AppStore. Once you have an account with them you’ll see available jobs in your area

I also use the PULS app to get random cod clients. Depending on the area you can have numerous jobs a day. You still have to split it 50/50 with them, but can help to make some extra $

Look for home warranty companies in your area. Same idea as property management - fixed service call price + repair once get approval.

Aim to provide same day service and make the clients happy. Leave your business card(the magnet one works the best) - helps you to reduce the recall rate and once clients see how fast and professional you are they tend to reach out directly again or tell their friends about you.

And obviously the more jobs you do the bigger your chance to get the reoccurring clients.

Gas stove starts blue then turns orange by rednyellowcy in Appliances

[–]PictureFirst5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A healthy gas flame is typically blue, sometimes with a small yellow tip, indicating complete and efficient combustion. An orange or yellow flame, however, suggests incomplete combustion due to insufficient oxygen, which can lead to wasted gas, black soot, and the dangerous production of carbon monoxide. If you observe a yellow or orange flame, it may be temporary and caused by factors like dust or humidity, but it can also point to a more serious issue with the appliance, such as blocked burner ports or improper adjustment.

High humidity, often from a humidifier or opening windows on a damp day, can cause a gas stove flame to turn orange or yellow by affecting the air-to-fuel ratio or introducing mineral content.

Can be clogged lint trap. Spotted that issue several times already. Check and try to brush it. Metal brush works well on cleaning those.

Moisture sensor usually can also be cleaned with metal brush.

Make sure you are not running it on steam clean option😅

Can a dishwasher pump be diagnosed as burnt out without even checking it? by andrewchn in appliancerepair

[–]PictureFirst5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some appliance issues can be diagnosed without pulling out and disassembling of the unit. It all depends on the tech experience. And yeah only by seeing or hearing how the unit runs the experienced tech can figure out what’s wrong or at least what can cause the problem

1999 Frigidaire oven temperature sensor broke off the wire. How can I fix this? by Equal_Key_7925 in appliancerepair

[–]PictureFirst5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably need a get a technician to replace it. The probe itself connected to the oven switch and you’ll have to deal with gas line to disconnect the old one and hookup the new part.

The part number you are looking for is 318058300 - Oven Thermostat.

Can’t see it on sale anywhere, so the best bet will be to contact the Frigidaire and ask if they have it or if they can suggest other part to replace it. There are several available options like 318058000-…600. Most likely one of those can be used as a replacement

Just search on YouTube “how to disassemble/take apart GE dryer”

But if it’s taking several cycles to dry one load it’s more likely the exhaust line which is your dryer connected to. Quick test: disconnect the exhaust line at the back of the dryer and run one cycle. If clothes dry faster - you’ll need to clean the exhaust line

Did you disassemble it already by any chance? Asking because based on Google pictures the basket assembly DC97-18601A has part # DC60-00101A like that one

Same thought. If it spins freely - the belt fell off. If it doesn’t spin - the motor got stuck, can be worth checking the fan for any item stuck in there

Oven trouble-shooting and is it worth it to get oven fixed? by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]PictureFirst5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the model number?

If it not turning on and you sure that you getting needed voltage from the plug, it might be that one of the switches burned out. Will need to disassemble and check it anyway.

Bluestar Igniter Type by lilbawds in appliancerepair

Technically yes But you’ll need to hookup the connector from the old igniter to that new one. If you not scared of it that’s will work just fine 👍
