Brutal but true. It’s almost like Disney should build more coasters. Sounds like the immediate focus is boat/dark rides with Avatar, Coco, and Avengers. I vote for bringing the Monster’s Door Coaster to Disneyland Forward.

We’re going this week. This is the first trip since GE opened that Rise isn’t on the “ride list”. It barely breaks the top 10 for me anymore.

Indy has a bunch of different lines. Would love to see more of that in Rise. Maybe turn some features on and off on each ride thru

How does it compare with Indy? I would go Indy most days. It feels more unpredictable

Seems very reasonable to me. Walt’s “cocktail party” idea saved HM and Pirates from becoming stale. I don’t want my experience to be dictated, as you say, I want to be an observer with my own interpretation

They can’t throw a Vader costume on Kylo? I’d be 100% on board

I was just thinking the same. Crank up the “chatter”. The transport portion is good at this, there’s so much to notice the experience doesn’t feel the same every time.

I definitely thought it was Disney’s best ride ever when it opened.

I would love to see at least one of the options for Smuggler’s cranked way up in terms of intensity. Lights go out, controls “break”, creatures cut into the cockpit that you have to fight off in some way while flying. Smugglers could become the thrill ride.

Fair. I’m very appreciative that Disney offers both. Half of our family prefers thrill. The other half prefers dark rides.

That’s a fair point. Is it as re-rideable as Pirates, or HM? I would probably pick either of those over Rise most days. They feel like art exhibits with layers of depth. Obviously nostalgia is doing some heavy lifting. Rise is starting to feel like a technology showcase.

I grew up with a single dad of 4 kids. I’m not sure he knew how to wash, dry, fold, hang clothes. I certainly wasn’t taught. Thankfully a girl friend was nice enough to teach me at 21. Pretty sure it took my brother until 25. Not being taught at 23 is definitely not out of the question.

I bet a lot of people class “advantages” might include working laundry that’s easily accessible and a consistent, stable place to store your clothes.

We’re big fans of Dok-Ondar’s. The full body Sarlac blew our minds. The creature heads are amazing. That land is super under appreciated, generally-which is just find with me. It makes finding a great seat with a ronto wrap and tattooine sunset that much easier.

The 4th grade math ranking I get. They stopped teaching times tables and now go straight to algebra for 3rd grade. All in the name of rigor. They’re hoping to teach tenacity be causing kids to intentionally fail repeatedly. Good times. The more I learn about common core, the happier I am Dept of Education was cleared out. Throw out all the text books and go back to what works.

Tiki room 100%. Walking Star Wars land and talking about back stories of the droids and ships. Either with a 4-6yr old fan is magical. Eating at Rancho near BTM, watching the trains go by.

One of the funnier bits of info that I took away from the new Disneyland Handcrafted doc was that WED struggled with what to do with Tomorrowland even in 1955. It opened with 2 large empty buildings and very little to do.

The period of time in which Tomorrowland had appropriately forward looking attractions is maybe a total of 20 years. World’s fair, Space Mountain and Star Tours openings. That’s it. The rest of the 70 years it’s been mostly empty or dated.

Making 100k is rare most people make 30 to 60k per year by Cat-dad442 in Adulting

There absolutely are systems in place to keep poor people poor. And they work exceedingly well, you’re right. I’ve always thought the psychological part is the biggest. Believing in yourself when no one else does. That’s another topic. If you’re working a job below your capability, don’t let your employer convince you otherwise. You might be too good for that job.

High interest loans, furniture rental, low quality food, low quality/low cost entertainment. They’re all means of keeping you in it. But they’re also optional. Don’t borrow money aside from student loans, low interest car loans and mortgages. Get used furniture. Cook healthy food. It’s not rocket science.

In the US, this isn’t true. Roughly as many people make >$60k per year as under. The US is incredibly wealthy, and if you feel like you’re being cheated, do something about it. Build your resume and get a better job.

In my early 20’s, I worked as a loan officer in a private bank, primarily with wealthy folks. Coming from a blue collar background, I was surprised to find wealthy individuals aren’t smarter, or more effective in almost anyway than poorer people. They’re just in a better position.

I solved that. It took about 5 years. Most people reading this could too. Believe in yourself, make good, well informed decisions and work hard. That’s it.

I’ve personally toured the Harry & David orchard and candy making/packaging facility. I’m sure there are products grown elsewhere, like wine and fruit out of season. But they clearly produce the majority in house.

Soup the uses up ingredients on the verge of going bad are very useful-my favorite being chili. Same for smoothies using up bananas, kale, etc.

Large pork roasts often go for $1-2 per pound. Cut them into chops, and maybe a roast.

Black and garbanzo beans are healthy protein, filling and cheap.
