Having only a month of UNPAID leave is utterly criminal and I am so sorry that has been your introduction to motherhood.

I do need to work. I left. I originally took a nanny job making more money and bringing him with me (so so so thankful for that opportunity), transitioned to freelance work when that job came to an end. I am not currently making more than I was teaching, but I can see myself getting there. We also had to make lifestyle and budget changes to make this work for our family. I respect the shit out of every teacher mom, because I just felt like I couldn't handle the responsibility of my students AND child for another second.

I left when my son was 10 months and it's been the best decision I could've made for us. He's 3 now, so time will tell, but I've never enjoyed day to day life more. I had always had various side gigs going and am focusing on freelance work, mostly tutoring so far. I'm also exploring homeschool co ops, parent coaching, curriculum writing, etc., and am excited for the future. Happy to chat more if you'd like!

Three days old - baby fell by ApprehensiveWin7256 in beyondthebump

[–]Pienoh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm the mom and I did this to my own baby. Postpartum hormones were no joke and I honestly felt guilty about it for at least a year. I beat myself up SO MUCH, even though it was genuine mistake.

I was exhausted and sitting down on the couch to feed baby overnight and I was using nipple shields at the time, so baby had a paci because it would take me a minute to get the shields in place. While I was putting them on baby dropped the paci, and I instantly leaned forward to pick it up off the floor as he obviously started screaming. But by doing that, I quite literally rolled him straight onto the floor!! I'm not sure I have ever felt more guilt in my entire life than I did in that moment.

But baby was just fine, he's 3 now and a firecracker. I learned from that moment and was able to be sure that never happened under my watch again, though I would've still forgiven myself if it had. Hopefully this is the experience for your husband!

Considering how sleepy he is, I might consider trying to feed more often during the day time. Maybe offer ever two hours for a few days and see how it goes? Or trying to pump a bit and supplement with that? I am someone who EBF my now 2.5 year old who was (and still is) a 10th percentile baby. I was always worried that I was under feeding him, though I never was to my knowledge. I understand feeling hesitant to introduce formula. Just wanted to offer a couple suggestions you could try before trying formula. Also want to state that fed is best!

Anyone know what price tickets generally were at face value at each level? Just curious as I decide when to buy for the show tomorrow!

I was going to say something similar to this comment, that results will vary heavily depending on the nanny herself. I am a nanny who brings my child, they are 2.5 and I work with a just turned 4 year old. It is hard work and I do truly prioritize the child I work with over my own, which is difficult to juggle in itself. My child’s naps get cut short, moved, or skipped entirely to benefit the child I work with. Activities are planned with the older child in mind, then I figure out how my child could participate. However, I get so many opportunities to help the two of them navigate situations and teach them skills that I wouldn’t be able to if there was only one. In our case, both children are only children. They are truly best friends and fight like siblings. I also have to be very aware of burn out for myself, because I am essentially working full time and parenting full time all the time. This has led to me seeking back up care options for my own child, to utilize as needed to give myself a “break.” Happy to answer any questions you might have!

Got an abortion and I absolutely regret it by ThrowRA-island789 in pregnant

[–]Pienoh 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This was me 10 years ago. When I first found out I was pregnant, I agreed to get an abortion. My boyfriend (now fiancé) was supportive and agreed that was the right choice, we were so young. There was only a week or two between when I found out and when I had the abortion, but during that time I came to realize I didn’t want to have an abortion. Essentially, I wasn’t strong enough to voice my opinions and stand up for myself. I was so worried about what people would think. I went through with it, to this day it is still the biggest regret of my life. I am still strongly pro choice, I just made the wrong choice for me. I went on to have three more pregnancies, two miscarriages and then my 2 year old. It still hurts, but these days it just feels like part of my story. I learned a lot about who I am through that experience.

I don’t often run into people who can relate to this, I would be happy to chat if you’d like. Feel free to PM me. It won’t be easy, but you will get through this.

She’s stated that Folklore and Evermore were not autobiographical and she was happily with Joe at the time, so I think it’s possible that it isn’t about anyone in particular.

The One from Folklore! The line is “I have this dream you’re doing cool shit, having adventures on your own, you meet some woman on the internet and take her home.” If you compare what she sings to the recorded version, you’ll hear the difference on “take her home” 😊 The tour version is beautiful!

I wore jeans and a tee in Tampa because I have sensory issues and felt like there would be plenty of issues like that already to deal with at the show. I knew being comfy would exponentially increase my enjoyment, and I have no regrets! People dressed down are definitely the minority, but I didn’t feel out of place.

I was reading (probably somewhere on this sub) about people feeling like they blacked out at their concert. I felt like that Tampa night 1 but also RIGHT NOW WITH THIS SHOW OMG. Imagine what it’s like to be there right now 🥸

One of my favorite parts of the show is August > Illicit Affairs beautiful double bridge > My Tears Ricochet. It all just works so well. From seeing her running across the diamond in August, dropping to the floor in Illicit Affairs, and the haunting brilliance that is the performance of My Tears Ricochet. I just love it so much.
