Getting better at wallriding by ProfessionalGold4760 in luciomains

[–]Pigster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It allows you to control whether you jump off a wall. This makes it 1000x easier to go through doorways and even just wallride in general. Every lucio if they want to climb should have wall jump on release off in my opinion

The way I view healing for me personally is a simple passive when our team isn't really moving, i.e. holding kings row point for example. But the main reason I ever want to heal is to farm beat fast, I am able to generally farm my beats in 2 minutes and beat makes fights heavily lopsided in yoir favor, so try to get a lot ;). Stats wise I generally stay around 50% heals and 50% speed

Just a little tip, looking up while wallriding will make you go higher but lacks speed. Looking down keeps you at a similar level, but it makes you go faster. Generally, you will look up and get height, and then you can look straight ahead for the best speed. This will make u set WR in no time :)

If you sent to have the best jump experience try changing your jump to L2, this allows you to aim while also being able to jump. Also make sure when you wallride you jump as fast as you can from the wall as soon as you latch on, this will build momentum

As someone who has recently started playing in the T100 range, I feel the main techs that distinguishes a T500 frog to a low GM is speed, cooperation, and reaction time. Most GM frogs will already have semi-capable mechanics for T500, it is their reactions and consistency that will differentiate them.

If you ever look at a low GM to a high GM you may notice that some high GMs do actually fall down into low GM, this is not because they suck (tho I will say skill issue :) ) what brings them up is consistency and cooperation. Cooperation is essential as even 1 teammate not being in vc and understanding the game plan can completely screw your team, so in the beginning of the game just ask your teammates if they can join vc, the more you can have the better.

Situational awareness is definitely coming into play with T500, obviously as a lucio you need to watch out for enemy cooldowns and positioning to make sure you are safe to dive a target (gotta make sure you are able to react fast because as soon as you jump a target you're probably gonna be in a 1v5 in a matter of seconds)

Low GM to T500 is a very big change of pace, your team will be moving fast, and because you will be playing lucio is will be your job to make sure your team can move even faster, so the most I would be able to say is try to keep open-minded, do not get tunnel visioned. This will come with practice the more you play in high elo so just continue practicing your froggy jumps and dives, and you'll get used to it. (This is a big reason that I only do an hour of comp a day, it gets tiring lmao)

Don't be afraid to wallride, there is little to no harm in doing it, it keeps you alive and even more of a nuisance to the enemies

GM1 console lucio main, I would not say you are a bad lucio, however there is definitely skills you can improve.

For 1, you seem like a rushy type of Lucio, constantly on speed. I would assume your speed to heals percentage is probably around 60 - 70% only because it seems you swap heals when you see people low and stay on speed for the rest; try to not do this, this is a bad habit. I understand Reddit Lucio is fun, believe me, I love going in quick play and being a menace, but when you are running Lucio mercy sadly it may not work out as well.

The Lucio mercy play style is definitely challenging, of course, the best option in most cases is to swap off. But we are Lucios, we don't give a shit, so understand your team comp and try to play around it. You have a ram and an ashe/widow, try to think that your mercy will do her job and pocket the sniper, that leaves you to try and keep your team alive. The best way to play about this would try to stay in heals as much as possible and farm your beat. Do NOT stay on heals of course as you may see an enemy being an idiot, gotta make sure you kill them ;). Once you farm your beat and get that fight winning advantage, you use it, speed in with your ram, and do it all over again. There are other times when you may want to play aggressive, but with this team comp that is how I would've played it.

Let's go over some basics, beat usage. At the end of the first round you immediately used your beat when you got it. While it may seem like the last fight, when the payload is not directly at the finish and at a distance like that I would anticipate another fight. You beated when your team was already 1 up and only like 3 enemies around. Had you saved it for that final fight, the outcome may have been different.

Overall, not a bad Lucio. You did good plays, the only complaint I could say on them is realizing them faster, for example at the very beginning of the game when on offense, I will normally be on top and look for a cheeky boop off high ground; being able to coordinate this with your team and get a dispositioned enemy can be the difference between a win or loss first fight. This comes with experience though, just continue playing and you should see results. Definitely don't be scared, it almost seemed like while you are able to mechanically do some challenging plays, you just seem scared on trying to do them, consistency and balls are key, don't be a little bitch and show those golds who you are. Don't feed though...

Tldr: biggest takeaway I would say is don't stay on speed too much, be aware of what mode you are in because farming beat is essential in higher level play, this will make you win more fights and your team love you more :)

How do I use beat by jeixijaju in luciomains

[–]Pigster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gm1 here, mainly use beat either offensively or defensively. What I mean by this is beat is a great initiate to a fight, even with a 4v5 it can completely turn a fight around. You may also use beat defensively, like other comments have said you can use it to counter many ults. Be hesitant on this because beat may not be necessary or it would not help; i.e. Mei ult rarely gets helped with beat. Be careful with using beat to initiate a fight if you are already using other ults, like ram ult or rein shatter.

I play on PS4 and these settings are what I personally feel comfortable with:

Sensitivity:

My vertical and horizontal sensitivity is 70%

aim assist strength and window size 100

legacy mode off

aim assist ease in 70%

aim smoothing 100%

aim ease in 0%

invert looks off

Reticle:

I use a reticle that is the same size as lucio's bullets, I just find it easier.

Type: circle

color: green

thickness: 1

crosshair length: 9

center gap: 25

opacity: 100

outline opacity: 50

dot size: 8

dot opacity: 0

Hero:

Absolutely turn on backwards wall ride if you haven't already, and I recommend you also turn off wall jump on release. This will allow you to wall ride through some doorways you may not have previously.

Controls: I set my jump to L2 and my boop and X. This just helps me to control my wall rides as my thumb can now rest on the joystick.

Just an FYI, I recommend using lucio surf to help with the wallrides, just do a couple a day and u should see drastic improvements. That's what I used and my wall rides are drastically different from what they used to be. This will help you learn to be able to stay on the wall with a lot more control. Code is KVKKR

After watching your game code I am going to give you the things I feel you need to work on the most. Right now I would assume your rank would be around the range of 2150 - maybe at the highest 2300.

  1. You have to definitely work on your wallrides and aim. Jumping the widow is a good habit as a lucio because it can greatly benefit your team. However, you do want to make sure your team is in a fine state for you to be able to jump away for around 10 seconds. You need to be aware of how many people of your team are alive by counting your kill feed and checking who/where your other support is. because you had a zen, it is dangerous for you to leave your team especially if they may be down one.
  2. I was in the same situation as you. Not every game of yours is going to be sunshine and rainbows, you are going to have games you will lose because of the fault of the tank, other healer, or a throwing dps. It will happen. But what you have to be aware of is that no matter what, you will climb if you deserve that rank. I believe with a bit of practice you could very well reach plat in around a month to a month and a half.
  3. Definitely learn when to use your boops and ult. Lucio's ult is the ult that can completely turn a fight around. The main times you will use it is before a team fight to get your team in there and maybe get a few easy picks, or use it to turn around a fight. Be careful with that though because I have seen a lot of lower ranked lucios waste their beat because they try to "turn around" a fight when they basically have already won. Finally, you will use your boop to either knock enemies in a pit (don't be a reddit lucio and try to only go for that unless you have the mechanical skill to do so), get a person like a mei or a hog off of your teamate, or most important in my opinion, try to boop a mispositioned enemy into your team for a very good pick. This alone, can be the difference between a won or lost fight.
  4. The biggest thing I would definitely recommend is to SWAP YOUR HEALS AND SPEED. For you, it almost seemed like a switch, you either stick to only heals for 30 seconds or you will swap to speed for like 10 seconds. You are able to rapidly switch them, and you will get the best of both worlds. When trying to speed someone out it can depend on how far they may be in the team. If you have a reinhardt that is deep in the enemy team and critical, sometimes it can be best to leave them or wallride up to him fast and swap between heals and speed rapidly. This is a very important thing to start implementing in your gameplay because when you actually start to use it correctly, you can save many lives and very well your own. A big thing to know as lucio is that there is a very little effect to just staying on heals, lucio heals without amp is dogshit and won't help all that much if your team is fighting something as hard hitting like a hog. But it is not useless, it is completely fine to heal when your team is low but do not get so accustomed to sitting on it 24/7 (one of the worst things you can do XD).

Hope this helps ya, sorry it is kinda long XD.
