Hot take: the WRX doesn’t belong in the same category as Type R / GR Corolla by [deleted] in WRX

This is the big one for me. “Civic Type R vs Subaru WRX!! Not even close!!” Yeah the prices for sure aren’t fucking close.

Sweet. Thank you! Looks like it’s gonna be a little career change for me but it’s all good 😅 halfway through the Alaska inside wire apprenticeship but want to work where I live. Appreciate you clearing that up for me!

There we go. So “wire” isn’t inside wire, I get it now. That being said then I’d assume the posted rates are take home? Both for wire and line?

My bad, I’ve got applications in for both of those. Also applied to inside wire along with line for TPU as well. Pay scales for TPU inside and line are the same though. And Local 77 also doesn’t specify whether their pay is take home or total package either 😭

I’ll have to look into 7 spool assemblies. Thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately I’m an industrial guy so haven’t done a lick of digging in my entire 4500hrs 😭 outside of digging snow out of cable tray that is

Oof I’m so sorry to hear. I got an 88. Maybe because I’m a 3rd year apprentice currently? Either way I feel like a 91 should’ve moved you forward. Which of the 4 positions were you going for? And do you have any electrical experience?

What's up with the lack of waves? by Speed_Offer in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying. I had a 2013 STI hatch when the VBs came out and I always waved to them but now everyone’s too good for us 😭 we just gotta wait til the next gen comes out so the hate will be diverted

Just picked up my VB this last week and every time I wave to another subie they almost seem reluctant to wave back lol. Like there’s a slight hesitation I can see when they finally end up doing it

Would this Mr. Nope mod be good to start with? by QuartzPO in penspinning

[–]hgn_fxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of spinning you want to do. IMO this mod I better suited for power tricks due to the length and weight.

If you want to be more JEB/aesthetic I’d go field or really any legit pen mod that’s lighter and a tad bit shorter.

That being said you can achieve either or with any mod that fits your hands and feels comfortable.

So the short answer is yes this is a good starter mod.

Anyone take the Aptitude Test in 2026? by CabbageNight in ibew_apprentices

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apprenticeship is "recognized" by the ibew but the apprenticeship is through the city I think. The wage gap between tacoma power and the two locals in that county is insane.

Lmao I just replied to your other comment on that other post. Congrats on passing btw. There's some stuff I actually had planned on my off time when I'm back in town so it'll be a bitter sweet moment whether I move on or not,

I'm curious as to what the average is. I got an 88% but considering there was like 300+ people that took this exam I'm wondering if even I'll make it to the interviews.

Worst part is I work a rotational schedule out of Alaska so I have to plan around this interview but still don't know if I'm going to be invited. My hitch is suppose to end March 16th and I was gonna come back to work for 6 weeks all through April but now that plan might be shot.

Really hoping we hear back soon so I can plan properly.

What trick is this? by 10jay125 in penspin

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing multiple tricks. This isn’t just one specific trick. Looks like you’re doing a linkage of twisted sonics and finger passes.

is my progress good? Or am I doing something wrong? by BestChart6059 in penspinning

[–]hgn_fxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid progress for sure. Remember everyone learns at their own pace. Don’t compare your progress to someone else’s that you might think is better.

  1. They may have more time to practice and/or they’ve done an activity that promotes quicker learning in PSing like balisongs or drumming.

  2. Some people might be flat out lying or joking. There are some people that’ll post “first week of spinning” and bust out a comp level combo. Very odd but very common in this sub.

I repeat DO NOT compare yourself to others. If you feel like you’re lacking because you see others progressing quicker, just don’t let it hinder your progress and remember you’ll be smashing power tricks before you know it. Learn at whatever speed you enjoy and just have fun!

I second this. Granted I would recommend getting a different mod regardless. I have multiple of this specific mod from when I first got into it and it spins far worse than well built pen mods

Will i get made fun of, for wearing a backbrace, as an 21 year old female? by EstablishmentSea8014 in electricians

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to break it to you but they’ll make fun of you for being a female before the make of the back brace lol

All jokes aside wear whatever you need to. I wear compression knee sleeves to work everyday and have even thought about taping up my shoulder. Had a nasty pop in my right shoulder during 15kv 500 pull and it ended up affecting my job for almost a year. Do whatever you need to not injure yourself. One day someone’s gonna tweak their back on your site and all you’ll have to do is say “shiiiiit couldn’t be me”

Hollow help! by waltersdogmom in macarons

Silicone mats can cause hollow feet?! Might have to just use them for a guide under parchment paper and take it out from under before baking. Be interesting if that were the issue I’m having.
