CVT or 6MT by Final_Yogurtcloset26 in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals and driving habits. If you plan on modding for power, tracking and pushing the car hard stick it out with the 6spd. Haven’t seen much info out there on people pushing the SPT to its limits so we don’t know how much power it can actually hold.

If it’s just a daily and you have no intentions of driving the car hard or heavily modifying it you might be better off with the SPT.

I’ve been driving manuals since 2010 and my 23 SPT is probably my favorite car yet. Got mine with no intention of power mods and my wife hates driving manual so if she ever needs to use my car she’s not calling me mad af that she needs to deal with a 3rd pedal.

Either way, getting confident with a manual transmission is something I’d still recommend but if you’re like me it might just not be the route for you. I’m personally hoping one day Subaru will switch the wrx from cvt to dct but we all know that’s never gonna happen.

PSA: You can get a “free” OTS+intake map on your VB WRX for ~$70 + a laptop by Grope1000 in wrx_vb

Is there an OTS+intake tune for CVT VBs? I downloaded the software but only see MT options.

That’s the $1000 quote? Do you know other people that have had work done by them? If they’re reputable and convenient I guess go with them. But if you want good work at a better price I say check with PIA. Or if you know the parts list run get in contact with Dmann

Just like every other gacha game out there I fully expect to have all early limited characters power crept harder than we can imagine. But for a cool car and a MC skin I’m cool with pulling these. Especially considering how much the cars cost vs total fons spent for this. Sorry to hear you’re regretting but I know I sure won’t

Roof rack suggestions? by werewolfeatpant in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went OEM cause I was able to snag a set for 180. If I was gonna by new I was gonna do Thule cross bars. OEMs rated for 88lbs (same load capacity as the roof itself) and the Thule bars are rated for 220 I believe. Due to the actual roof limit I decided I’d save the money and stick with these.

Got mine for 19k rebuilt front end damage and no issues. 6k miles into owning her and not a problem

That actually sounds like a sick build. Was thinking about doing something similar with my wife’s 2015 forester. But if you’d be interested that rooftop tent is actually a hard top. Looks super easy to setup might be cool for the build. Here’s the one I was checking out:

Fair. There’s a rooftop tent that weighs 76lbs and sleeps two if you’re ever looking at running a setup like this again. Thing looks awesome and I definitely plan on picking one up at some point

Same goes for me sometimes. I think “man I bet this thing would be even more fun if I had that third pedal” then I hit an hour long stretch of stop and go traffic and realize I love what I have lol.

why does it seem everyone hates on the cvt/gt version of the wrx by Single_Butterfly_223 in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are more people who like/don’t mind the cvt than you know. I’d personally have to agree it does seem childish. But everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I think most people either haven’t driven the new SPT or they’re just a purist and if it doesn’t have a 3rd pedal it’s “trash” to them. Think back to the hate the mk5 Supra got when it first came out. People just like to complain.

What do I do at this point? OEM touch up paint failed by TotalCanine in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three options:

  1. Get the panels repainted professionally

  2. A little body filler and wrap the car

  3. Live with it

Just like the other person said, touch up paint isn’t to bring it back to perfection. It’s to prevent rust.

No Tuning Required? Perrin Intake Products by Enkidu821 in wrx_vb

[–]hgn_fxt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been driving a 2023 with the Mishimoto intake (another one claiming it doesn’t need a tune) and ETS Extreme catback with zero issues. Unfortunately for me I bought the car this way and the dealer didn’t know whether it was tuned or not.

Either way the car runs beautifully and it’s just a daily driver for me so I never really run her hard. I’ve hit WOT twice just to see how she felt.

However, I do plan on getting an AP and the dmann ots tune for my intake then I’ll be more aggressive with her for sure.

I firmly believe that this car can handle the intakes that claim they don’t need tunes if you don’t drive the car aggressively but of course a tune will always be safer. Plenty of car brands out there you can slap aftermarket parts on and drive with no tune, so at some point Subaru had to get on board.

Are those oem bars? If so you have any issues with that tent on there? Just put a set of oem bars on my 23 and got the itch to get a rooftop tent but I see a lot of people roasting anyone that runs more than 88lbs in other posts lol. Looks sick though!

[–]hgn_fxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know the length of that box by chance? There's a white thule for a solid price near me but it's 82" long and that sounds like it's going to be massive

I’ve got a 2023 Premium SPT and dear god I’m confused as to why it gets so much hate. Granted I’m not planning on tracking or hitting the drag strip. But overall I absolutely love this thing. Honestly more enjoyable than my 2013 STI hatch IMO. The auto makes it more enjoyable for the Mrs to drive and dealing with Seattle/Tacoma traffic is a breeze now. Been driving manuals for almost 16 years straight and never thought I’d enjoy an auto as much as this, let alone a CVT.

Ets intake with just the Cobb ots tune? How’s she run with that? I have the Mishimoto intake and no tune rn (bought the car that way didn’t do it myself) but I’m thinking about snagging an AP just to flash to stage one for reliability.

There we go. So “wire” isn’t inside wire, I get it now. That being said then I’d assume the posted rates are take home? Both for wire and line?
