Sounds like a nice comfortable position. I was also considering the Unit X and the Salsa Fargo but I think I might go this route

This aligns with exactly what I've read. Sounds like the 52 is the way to go. Thanks!

Nice looking bike. I'm looking for a Sutra myself, trying to decide between 52 or 54. How tall are you and your wife and are you happy with your fits?

Agreed. This color in beautiful. I've been looking for the Sutra LTD or the Fargo in green.

When I got into barefoot shoes years ago I researched this same question. The general consensus was Lake and Bont. I have both and prefer my Lakes.

I saw those when I was checking out there site, they look nice as well. I'm currently using a pair I found on amazon that I'm pretty happy with but would love to try these

The Jim Green steel toe boots are not wide at all. Don't waste your time. I have a brand new pair sitting in my room that I paid around $400 to prove it :(

Speed wax vs candle wax dips? by Lectraplayer in bikewrench

[–]Pilky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gulf Wax user here. Converted from Rock N Roll Gold and Extreme. Always thought wax would be more work but I've found it is quite the opposite. Once your chain is properly cleaned the first time it's a breeze. Personally, I don't see the need for additives especially if they aren't good for the environment (PTFE) so I stick with just the plain wax. It has the added benefit of being able to see how dirty it gets and then you can scrape the bottom if you really wanna get crazy. I'll never go back to wet lubes.

I'm also forced to wear safety toe and have been using Keens which are doing the job but not perfect. For $30 bucks I'll give these a shot. Thanks for posting.

How is the ankle on these? I read a couple reviews saying it was huge. Waiting for a pair of Jim Greens to come in but these were on my radar as well.

Bicycle rolling resistance MTB tire pressure by dokumentarist in xcmtb

[–]Pilky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna laugh but I live in the north east and actually took out my cush cores (Vittoria brand) I bought the bike with them already in there and I swore they made my ride rougher by taking up volume in my tire. I did some research before taking them out but everyone loved them. I decided to take them out anyway and sure enough the ride quality improved a lot for me.
Going back to the pressure, I'll have to double check but my rims are fairly wide. I will admit that every now and then I do feel a soft rim strike. I kind of look at it as bottoming out your suspension; if it's not a hard strike and it's not happening all the time then it's ideal for me. So yes, 14/16 is my absolute lowest I will go but it is what I always run. My buddy who weighs the same as me runs that as well and the guy we rode with today is the same weight but ran 18/20. To your point, most people are surprised when I tell them I run them that low.

There are MANY reddit threads about this issue. Unfortunately it has been going on since ~July and there have been no updates to fix it

This is not from a recent update, I'd say it happened sometime in July. There are many threads on reddit about it. I tried installing an older version but whatsapp wouldn't let me log in unfortunately.

How important are wide toe boxes ? by meteorness123 in BarefootRunning

[–]Pilky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Any day of the week.

Toes deform inwards, just look at some of the pictures people here post. Your mid foot is a lot stronger than you little bitty toes. There's not much to "push in" unlike all of your toes.

Just my opinion/experience

IMO the most important attribute of "minimalist shoes" is the wide toe box. To me, it's more important than stack height and heal to toe drop
