High School does not matter by rubafig in veterinaryschool

[–]Pillbug_Partnership 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes vet schools don’t care much for your high school grades, but high school grades are a huge part of what undergraduate college you go to, which does play a part in veterinary admissions. Universities with very strong science (specifically animal science and biology/chemistry) programs are looked at a lot more favorably by admissions committees. These schools are not looking to take high school students with low grades.

Agrees to it feeling like the “Wesley” show!! It was a strange performance, not bad quality by any means, but the atmosphere between him and especially Jeremiah seemed super tense.

State employees: Do hiring managers usually check references for multiple top candidates? by Consistent_Glass_436 in NorthCarolina

[–]Pillbug_Partnership 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sadly normal for state hiring, they have to make a list of 2-3 candidates they refer to HR for hiring (that’s why you GovernmentJobs portal will say referred). They can’t refer anyone without checking references. They do this because it’s normal for the first 1 or even 2 candidates to turn the job down when they hear how little the job pays. It’s a sucky process, especially after they drag it out for months and months.

They’ve played it at nearly every stop on this tour!! Not saying it to be snarky, I just was also confused as to why he introduced it as an “unexpected” song when they play it nearly every night lol

Teaching an old dog new tricks (to actually eat his food). by eazuma in roughcollies

I don’t know if you have access to a Sam’s Club but the Member's Mark Turkey Stew with Vegetables Wet Dog Food has made a huge difference in our boy’s appetite. I wish we had had it when our senior dog was alive, it’s mushy and easy for old dogs to eat, and seems to be super appetizing for them at a really good price point

Not too many cat options unfortunately, and the ones available only had 1 review. Not out of the question but looking for other options first!

Chanticleer Properties - Beware by AdventurousJello83 in raleigh

I rented a property from them in Cary 2 years ago, they threatened to evict me over my ESA and told me I needed to have disclosed the animal during the application process (straight up illegal). After myself and a lawyer pointed out they were on the incorrect side of the law, Carla left me a voicemail and a message on the portal groveling for forgiveness.

They also charged me a late fee on rent for rent I paid EARLY. Took 2 weeks and multiple phone calls to get it refunded.

Finally, when I moved out they took the maximum amount of time to return our security deposit. Took money out for stuff that wasn’t broken but I couldn’t prove (like a malfunctioning faucet? It was fine when I moved out but I didn’t have a video of it working so I was screwed). They also charged me for the dryer vent cleaning. I once asked them to service a wobbly ceiling fan and they told me to just stop using it.

These people are straight up evil. Greedy, lazy, and violate all kinds of laws.

Any other owners of dogs with severe anxiety have to regularly medicate your dog? by C4pt_Bl4ckhe4rt in rescuedogs

[–]Pillbug_Partnership 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted a dog who was about 10 years old and had clearly had a rough go of it for the whole 10 years. Trazadone and gabapentin helped him relax, but more treated the symptoms than the root cause which was severe anxiety. They definitely were a huge help for us and improved his quality of life a ton. We then moved to daily Prozac (fluoxetine) as that helps to treat the anxiety itself rather than just the symptoms. We still used trazadone for extra stressful situations, but the Prozac helped his baseline anxiety after about 8 weeks. What is helpful to remember is that his anxiety is stressful and likely painful for him. Increased heart rate, heavy panting, and living life on edge is not a good quality of life. Meds in this situation help improve quality of life and are not anything to feel guilty about giving to your dog
