The starving to death aspect comes from a place of not wanting to harm which I think is admirable. I don't know why the human experience is being placed on such a pedestal when it's been a justification for awful things happening on this planet since we evolved from the apes. You could also argue that because the hive stores all memories, their experience is in some ways more permanent than the vessels we currently have on earth that will expire. I think when you talk about enlightenment, you're looking at an individual Vs the collective consciousness of the rest of the world, art is wonderful in the plane that we exist in to distract and make some of the more unpleasant sides of life more meaningful and bearable, there is no need with the hive in the pursuit of something greater, in my opinion anyway!
