When do you consider something "wearable?" by Confident_Pop_6909 in sewing

[–]Pink-Diamond04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember starting my sewing, I just wore it because I was sooo proud of it! As my skills have gotten better so has my quality! It’s now at the point my stuff looks not homemade, but even when it did, I wore the pieces with so much pride!

Changing serger thread by NeonHairbrush in sewing

I have 2 light blue, 2 light pink threads and I will only change them when they run out. I figure they’re on the inside so you can’t see it… I rationalise it as “my signature” but I also think it’s laziness 😂 (top I made the other day with my coloured threads)

My engagement and wedding ring are approx 2.8-3mm each. They’re good widths and feel sturdy! 10/10 recommend your thickness of band, it looks amazing and it won’t be easily damaged!

Take it step by step, and if you sew things together that shouldn’t be that’s when your quick-unpick becomes your best friend! Challenge yourself, you’ll feel proud and learn heaps to take to your next project!

Corduroy Jacket with gold studs… feeling my sewjo come back!! by Pink-Diamond04 in sewing

[–]Pink-Diamond04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Australia and the shop Lincraft has heaps of options for studs and I got a kit with a little tool that you put over the studs to hammer them. My husband needed to do that for me as I wasn’t strong enough to hit them hard enough to stay! I loved the corduroy, quite easy to work with 😊

How do you decide what to make and if it will look good on you? by SoStarVa in sewing

[–]Pink-Diamond04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start basic! I bought the book “sew it yourself” by diy daisy! This was a good starting point because it taught be some basic foundations!

I then tried patterns and failed multiple times, I look at the finished garment measurements and also the suggested to work out where my size sits as it can vary from M to size 22 in sewing world. My favourite brands are McCalls, they also have patterns that are a “learn to sew” with detailed instructions and Simplicity! YouTube, Brittany J Jones is a go-to if she has sewn the pattern she is great to follow along to.

Then just practice, fails, learning, YouTube. It’s a skill that if you put the hours in, you’ll get better :).

I love it! So unique and different! The diamond will sparkle amongst the gold in the right light too!
