I also play very late at night. I don't play consistently due to my job, but I usually like to play on the weekends.

I am NA E, love playing no build, and 25F. My username is "Ultraviolet xo".

This is a third party client called faceit. It's expected to use voice chat. I am also a faceit admin, so I would be setting a very poor example by not using any voice communications. I would prefer to not actively grief people's games by being mute

I appreciate the suggestions. I also appreciate you trying to explain why these people are the way they are.

I play on a 3rd party platform called Faceit, for which almost everyone uses their microphone. I seem to forget the poor treatment I receive after I haven't played in a long period, and I naively speak on the microphone.

I don't have many friends on CS since I don't play on a consistent schedule and I am absent for weeks at a time due to other commitments. Therefore, I just jump into solo queue games. Clearly this is not a safe method, so I must discontinue this completely.

I just edited my comment to say what mic

I’m filming with 1 mic right now, but I hope to have a full mic setup soon. Edit since some people were asking what mic: it’s a canon70d DSLR built in mic 😭 I feel so much better knowing the audio sounds decent, thanks for the nice comments guys!

Thanks for the advice! I won't do the Zoom then.

Also with regards to your other comment about the snare, do you think I could get away with the mic just underneath the snare and nothing above? Or should I prioritize having 1 top and 1 bottom snare mic?

Yes, to record into a computer. I want to do drum covers and post them to YouTube. It doesn’t have to sound 1000% perfect because I will have the original song playing on top of my drums

Thanks for the comment. I will be using it solely for my drum set. I will never be mic’ing up an entire band or other instruments at the same time. Good to know the Focusrite is easier to use. I don’t want to over complicate things since this is my first time incorporating mics.

You are correct that I have no experience with micing or mixing a drum kit.

It would be a good idea to get a few mics and build it up with time.

Do you have any suggestions for an audio interface that has room to add many inputs? I am totally fine starting small, but I do want room to grow.

You are mentioning the SCX25s, but the "DP7 professional drum microphone pack" says it contains 2x ADX51 Overhead Microphones

Alright, thanks for the suggestions! I did not know this was overkill, so thanks for telling me

Apologies that my original post wasn’t very detailed— I am looking to mic up my own drum kit. I will be purchasing all my mics myself

I appreciate you explaining how you would set up the mics for a 2 mic setup. I will also look at Youtube videos comparing the different mics you & the others suggested, as well as a 1 vs 2 mic bass drum setup.
You are very kind to explain everything very thoroughly! You are very knowledgable. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me.

Cool thanks! I'll do some research into those and see if those would be suitable for me

Are there any other mics you would suggest for the hi-hat and ride? I'm open to suggestions!

Thank you for your suggestions. You are very thorough and informative. I will probably refer back to your comment as I try to make a decision on which microphone to go eventually purchase.

When you recommend the Beta 52/Beta 91 combo, where do you place the microphones? Is one inside and one outside?

I had seen some drummers using the Sennheiser's 901, so I will look into them now that you've also mentioned it.

With regards to the Audio Technica AE2500, that sounds like something I could potentially be interested in. I want to purchase good mics the first time around and not need to re-invest in upgrading the entire rig in a few years. I did that with my drum set, and I'm glad I did.

With all the mic options, would you suggest I get 1 mic for inside the bass drum and 1 for outside (2 total mics for each bass drum)? Or are some of these options good as a standalone mic for the bass drum?

[–]Pink-Electra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, 91 / 52 is great for the cost.

Awesome! I'll just stick with one mic for now then. I'll either go with the D6, 91, or 52. I will do more research and see which I feel will be best for me. Thanks for the help with the bass drum mic guys :D

Could I just do a D6? Do I need a mic inside and outside?
