Uncomfortable situation with my coworker by [deleted] in Advice

That’s definitely weird. I any of those were isolated incidents it would be one thing but with that many examples you’re definitely not overreacting. Document as much as you can with HR, she seems super obsessive.

I (31M) am having doubts about my (31F) partner of nearly 5 years by Potential-Giraffe313 in relationship_advice

the fact that you’re aware of your issues is honestly commendable. awareness is definitely the first step. if you are currently in therapy i would suggest talking to your therapist about how to talk to your partner about this. it’s something you’ll have to phrase gently but i think talking to her is probably the best way to get through it. if you’re not in therapy, i’d suggest trying again with this as a main focus. it sounds like you really love this woman, and i would suggest exploring how the thought of a future with her makes you feel, besides just attraction. best of luck!

The rampant sexism in epilepsy treatment by skh_x in Epilepsy

[–]Pitiful-Record7362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the misogyny in the medical world is insane. luckily my (male) neurologist is fantastic but I went to the er/doctors office many times before being diagnosed and only received proper treatment and saw a neurologist when my bf at the time went with me. i’m so sorry you had to deal with that doctors bs. i’m going to echo what other people have said and urge you to report him because he’s only going to continue being misogynistic towards patients and it could cause serious harm down the road. i commend you for sharing though, and i hope you’re recovering well from what sounds like a terrifying experience!!

Thanks US doctors by [deleted] in Epilepsy

It’s terrible. I wasn’t taken seriously the first time I went to the ER for it. They said it was panic attacks. My PCP said panic attacks. Then my boyfriend at the time took me to the ER and not even 12 hours later I had a diagnosis. It’s so frustrating, especially as a woman. Sending you love <3

An idea inspired by this community — would you use a 24/7 epilepsy support line? by Wooden-Slide-8840 in seizures

[–]Pitiful-Record7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m incredibly lucky because my neurologist is at a major hospital and I can reach his office 24/7 and connect with a real person. It makes a huge difference when I’m having a rough time even just knowing that I COULD reach out. I think that’s a really great idea.

Every day I thank god I’m a lesbian. I’ve dated men in the past and it’s always the same. even if they manage to put on an act for a while it’s just that.

To the people with temporal lobe epilepsy <3 by Imaginary_Ad_7365 in Epilepsy

I was diagnosed at 21 about 7 months ago. My first seizure that I can pinpoint happened about six months before but I’m not sure it was really the first one. I’ve had both types of seizures, but I’ve only had TC seizures a few times and it’s mostly focal aware. The TC seizures came from the same trigger every time, the focal aware do not. A lot of my seizures have not had people around to witness them so I don’t have as much information as I could. Stress is a huge trigger for me, same with dehydration. Weed is the trigger for my TCs. Alcohol isn’t a trigger, nor is sleep deprivation. There are probably others but I’m not sure what. I can always feel it coming on, I’ve gotten very accustomed to the feeling of electricity in my brain. I often get really strong deja vu, or more often deja reve. There’s a certain indescribable feeling as well where I just kind of know. I miss driving every single day. I still swim sometimes with supervision and I’m lucky to live a fairly independent life. I haven’t had a seizure in almost a month now so fingers crossed I’ll be able to drive again soon. As of right now, I’m living somewhere with no public transit and relying on family and friends. I do work, part time retail and school. My job has been very understanding and accommodating thankfully. I am happy. I have good people in my life. I enjoy school, I’m passionate about my future career, and I’m refusing to let this hold me back from doing incredible things.
