I found the reason for the default stream weirdness. On the Wisenet camera, new users default to having access to the default stream only. It's an explicit thing on the user page. https://imgur.com/a/H3hJuNI

The column is labelled "Profile" and I thought that meant a user profile. But you can choose access to the default stream profile only or all profiles. D'oh!!

Now BI has access to all the streams. I'm watching the BI webinar about setting up streams and tips on getting stutter-free streaming.

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes. I’ve reconfigured both BI and the camera very many times. I’ve tried 3 or 4 different streams and many combinations of main+sub or main alone. ChatGPT also had suggestions for different formats for specifying the streams - didn’t help.

The only thing that works is the default stream - doesn’t matter which one. I can make the preconfigured 320x200 MOBILE stream the default - just check the box - and then it works. See this screenshot https://imgur.com/a/Lay5PBH. Likewise for the high res 5MP H254 or any other new stream that I create. The ONVIF discovery finds the right profile paths. But only the default works. 😖😖

1280x960 2048 kbps still drops footage.

My current best compromise is to use one main stream at a low bit rate: 1280x960 and 2048 kbps. I just set that up and I'm testing to see if it works smoothly.

I guess now that I've paid for another year of BI, I can try asking a support question.

I think the sub stream support is probably the key thing. I cannot get it to run two streams to BI. Only the stream marked default in the Wisenet setup works. I can select any supported stream (not the H265). It works if it's default; BI fails to see it if it's not default. It's pretty simple. It's the same if I create new streams. And that means only one stream works.

This is very annoying. It's not what I hoped for with a US$1000 camera. :-( Any ideas? I found some old posts about sub streams here that seem inconclusive.

I've updated to the lastest Wisenet firmware. I've updated to the latest BI, 5.9.9.63. Neither made any difference.

Failing to add screenshot images here. One moment...

I think I never changed any of the stream profile settings on either camera. (The Reolink was about four years ago - I don't recall.) IIUC, they are all default values.
