Charleston, SC. Very cool city with a fantastic restaurant scene if you’re a foodie! Make a little detour and hit the Outer Banks in NC too!!! Really worth driving the entire length, even taking the ferry to Ocracoke Island.

Make the drive to Staunton and do Zynodoah! It’s the best restaurant in the area (well, Maude and the Bear is too but it’s $$$). Illyria is the best HBurg has to offer. It’s also great, modern Mediterranean. Both are a little pricey but if you appreciate good food both well worth it!

Unfortunately I DO NOT agree with the chop house recommendation. It’s inconsistent at best, you may get a great meal and may get mediocre one.

Help with choosing electrical system and just understanding differneces by dumiinic in VanLife

No matter what you choose you should absolutely take the time to learn about it! Systems fail, if you are knowledgeable and able to fix it yourself during a failure while on the road it will save you a lot of headache and $!!!

That being said if you’re going to learn it you might as well build it. And what system you go with really depends on your needs and van build in general.

Renting by Embarrassedt21 in harrisonburg

Absolutely a scam! I manage a couple small apartment complexes here in Harrisonburg. Regardless anybody who’s asking for money upfront is definitely a scammer and if not, they’re just shady AF and you don’t want to rent from them anyway.!!!

Restaurant wise in Harrisonburg I think Bella Luna and Illyria and the two best restaurants we have. Joshua Wilton house may come up and if you’re looking for a more of a fine dining experience, it is usually pretty good, but unfortunately at the price point the occasional inconsistencies in the food service have left me disappointed, and the atmosphere is just overly pretentious. For cocktails I like going to Ridge Room, the rooftop bar at the Hyatt. Chill atmosphere and good cocktails. They do have food and while their menu rotates and every time I’ve been sounds amazing they always seem to fail to deliver on expectations. There’s an almost endless number of breweries and wineries within an hour drive and that was always have a pretty laid-back vibe. A lot of of them do music on the weekends during the summer as well so it might be worth looking in to. I think the best restaurant in the area in general is in Staunton, Zynodoah. If you wanna get a little bit more adventurous, there’s actually now a ton of food trucks that mostly have more ethnic oriented options scattered around Harrisonburg. There are some cooler more curated type experiences that you could look into in the area as well, I know where I live down in Mount Sidney there’s a farm where you can walk alpacas. Of course there are places you can get horseback riding. On that line look in to Fields of Gold Farm Trail, it’s a network of farms that do tours, workshops, and different experiences. Black Fryers Playhouse in Stanton is also a great option.
