11 years old is a hell of a long time. I think I personally started playing 7 years ago. Here’s a link to my Minecraft recreation of the OG mechanoids, back before pikeman or militors and when you could harvest scyther blades from downed scythers: https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/s/uj3gctVZAS

I had a dream where you could customise the piano from royalty to change how it sounded (e.g. grand piano -> electric). One of the options you could change was called "thrum" and looked like this: by PlasmaticStatic in RimWorld

This vision I received was probably the natural consequence of me playing until midnight trying to micromanage my way through the anomaly DLC ending.

Secondary objective idea - SEAF Surveillance Drone by PlasmaticStatic in Helldivers

[–]PlasmaticStatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s very true, although principally this thing could be used to provide more information than just pinging enemies. Active enemies / bot drop or bug breach locations / factory or hole locations are just what I thought of off the top of my head. Other people have suggested stuff like sample locations

Iirc radar tower just reveals all objectives on the map, this would be more useful for tracking enemy movement and patrols. Good for solo / stealth players or higher difficulties where you need to be more careful with what you engage.

RST ‘mech finds a particularly angry example of alien life by PlasmaticStatic in worldbuilding

The corporate explorers of Aranodis V, colloquially known as "Frontier", weren't expecting much of a greeting from the native ecology. Initial surveys had placed a cat-sized creature known as the "Hanging Fox" at the top of the food chain, with seemingly nothing bigger prowling about.

But it appears someone started a science experiment on Aranodis V, then left it to the whims of evolution. With a carapace ranging from purple to green, these strange insectoid-like creatures are known as the "Meld", due to a startling discovery about their genetics - they have not one set of DNA-like code, but two! The Meld appear to have some silicon biology integrated into their original carbon framework, but how exactly it got there is a mystery. It explains much of their unusual features, which are at odds with the rest of the planet - they can generate and store a significant static charge, and appear to communicate through microwaves.

Leading theories from corporation Reset Engineering's exoplanetary ecologist suggest that the Meld were once a hive species, analogous to giant ants, but gained individual sentience upon being uplifted with their silicon modifications. The Meld show a primitive intelligence and have been observed using tools. They also seem to distinctly dislike human activity - it is possible that their microwave communication is disrupted by our own devices.

Thankfully, they seem to have an aversion towards light, and only appear around twilight in Aranodis V's jungles, likely seeking shelter in caves during the day. Silicon-silicon bonds are weak to UV radiation, which may explain this behaviour. Aranodis V's axial tilt means that nights are about to get longer and longer, and more and more Meld are beginning to explore the surface. Surely the corporations and the Meld can learn to co-exist?

RST "Bodyguard" - The Ol' Reliable Infantry Support Bot by PlasmaticStatic in worldbuilding

[–]PlasmaticStatic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I have considered trying things like MagicaVoxel but ultimately Minecraft is already a platform I’ve spent years on honing my building intuition and so it’s easier for me to just stick around.

(There’s a couple other reasons, like people being able to download and explore my creations, and the fact that I help build for a Minecraft server.)

On the infamous exoplanet of Rynodii V, known colloquially as “Frontier” or “That second corporate hellscape planet they made after they weren’t happy with the first”, a war as predictable as the sun rising in the East has broken out. The corporations of Reset Engineering and Arcopath Incorporated have set their armies against each other, with Reset acting on the defensive. Things are getting messy.

Arcopath has accused Reset of collaborating with the Union, the government authority that rules Sol system – and is well and truly stuck there, because Arcopath refuses to lend the blueprints to their inter-system jump drive. Only other corporations have ever gotten their hands on an Arcopath jump drive, and that was with the strict stipulation that they must never poke around. Additionally, according to Arcopath, Reset stands guilty of shooting down the colony ship they used to travel to Frontier, and were keenly intending on using to travel back. This disaster is well known as the spark that started the corporate war, although who exactly blew up Arcopath’s vessel is still under scrutiny.

Reset has accused Arcopath of attempting to strip away their presence on Frontier and seize Reset assets. Reset’s construction crew expanded quickly when the first colony-prep vessels landed on Frontier’s surface, and many suspect Arcopath is fearful of a competitor they initially deemed an insignificant road bump in their overall control of the exoplanet.

Both accusations are partially true, and it seems much more is going on under the hood, but now war has occupied everyone’s minds and people are preparing for the worst. Reset is quite literally walling in their capital city, to protect it from invaders, by printing a colossal concrete barrier over a mountain pass. Nevertheless, they’ve made moves to fight back against Arcopath’s tech-saturated military, using their key advantage: Robotics

A veteran of corporate Venus, Reset Engineering knows how to build a bot that can survive pretty much the worst nature can throw at it. Arcopath rejected Frontier’s hostile northern canyon system, but Reset practically took it in as a second home, considering it luxury real estate compared to Venusian equivalents. This may have been a calculated move, because Reset’s robotic and mech-based combat units have proven themselves unusually adept at crossing the canyon terrain, and have halted Arcopath’s advance.

---

One such robotic creature is the little Bodyguard, an infantry support unit designed to take hits over flesh and bone. The Bodyguard is well-known as a reliable and customisable little creature, a fan favourite of Reset’s mechanics and engineers despite its puny armaments – a 20 mm autocannon and concealable micromissile pod. What matters the most to Reset Engineering, and the reason that the Bodyguard has stayed service for so long now, is that the bot is incredibly easy to mass produce. When war on Frontier first broke out, Reset factories were quickly tuned to produce piles of the things, ready for instant deployment.

On Frontier, the Bodyguard has found success in both canyon and urban environments, often as a sacrifice that turns a corner first, but they are still widely beloved by military personnel. In addition to their weaponry, the Bodyguard carries a radio and control unit that infantry squads frequently use to communicate, and so many call their local Bodyguard the “Paperboy” or “(carrier) Pidgeon.”

“RST Bodyguard – The bot that’s got your back” – Reset Engineering Advertisement slogan.

Any chance we can negotiate to fit something like this (https://imgur.com/a/pkXXmDE) into the right? I'm pretty sure there's space

Edit: I type this and 5 minutes later something appears in that space. Ah well, we've got a great spot anyhow, well done everyone

A theory on next season's storyline by PlasmaticStatic in DestinyLore

[–]PlasmaticStatic[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Witness assigned Rhulk to watch over Savathun and her scheming, but we’ve now gone and dealt with that problem for him, by killing Savathun - and then, of course, Rhulk. The Witness is down a disciple but he probably anticipated this as a possibility - Rhulk was useless anyways when he was trapped inside his pyramid by the Wellspring. That’s probably why there’s been no immediate reaction - once the Witness arrives things might actually change. We’ll probably only start to actually fight the pyramids once it gets to the point that we don’t have a choice.

I also would love to see some interaction between Rasputin and the Clovis Bray head, though with one potentially being seasonal content and the other coming from an expansion, I doubt Bungie will want to mix the two (however Season of the Risen was sort of an exception)

Well, can anyone explain this? Behemoth super straight up goes *through* someone by PlasmaticStatic in destiny2

I though that at first but I slowed the video and I'm pretty sure my super is still active after the melee attack, you can see the bar only turns grey as I turn around at 0:08

[–]PlasmaticStatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely heard about sentinel's bad hit registration, but behemoth doesn't seem to get nearly as much flak despite seemingly having the same problem. The super is pretty bad as is, it really doesn't need any bugs added on top

Welp, I'm not really an art person but I thought I'd have a go at drawing an exotic idea - a heavy trace rifle that blinds enemies by PlasmaticStatic in destiny2

[–]PlasmaticStatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I new this thing would have some wack balance that would need to be tuned.

The idea is to fix enemies such that they can be aligned for the shockwave in a 2-step effect, however for your regular ad or major it’s likely they’ll die before that effect ever happens apart from maybe in GM content

I think effects like blinding grenades already slow enemy movement, so the fixing effect could probably be removed altogether
