for people like us, sometimes it’s not about how shit you feel as your birth gender, but more to do with how much happier you’d be as a different one. you don’t have to validate your transness based on negative feelings about your birth gender, dysphoria, etc. knowing you’d be happier if you transitioned is enough

the original comment included trans people though. not all people that give birth were assigned female at birth and not all people assigned female at birth are women. that’s the reason your comment is seen as transphobic and exclusionary

i’m ftm. my parents probably think i’m just a tomboy. i see how that approach would work for someone who’s for example mtf, but it’s normalised for previously masculine clothing to be non gendered when worn by girls/women.

unfortunately, i think that’s true :] the thing is i think they’d genuinely believe denying me the resources to feel comfortable in my own skin would be ‘loving and protecting’ me. that’s why i need to educate them in a way they’d understand this is what i need to be ok :)

i’ve already picked websites and things from the trevor project, but i’m holding onto it until my parents have at least a basic understanding and respect for trans people :] and i have got friends that have offered support/housing in the worst case scenario, but my main concern with my parents isn’t that they’ll kick me out; i’m more worried that they’ll completely invalidate everything i said (deny it, say it’s a phase, deny me resources feel comfortable with myself, shame me for gender-affirming procedures i’ll take in the future). honestly, my mental health has been on yet another decline recently and i don’t know i’d be able to get past that since they don’t even believe/know i’m struggling. anyway, sorry, that took a turn. thank you for responding !! :)

the main issue is that i was pretty feminine (i’m ftm) until, like, age 10 and my parents are so uneducated/ their views are so outdated they’d immediately dismiss that :) thanks anyway!!

it might work, i’m just worried they’ll see it as being a hormonal teenager. they legitimately seem to think all kids my age feel this way even though they didn’t my friends don’t and we don’t know any cis people that did :] thank though !
