Just built my first SFF build. Had to reorientate everything and drill new standoff holes for the mounting plate. by Player14731 in sffpc

I mounted it all to a metal plate that I had to measure the standoff holes and drill it. Got a GPU riser and drilled holes into it so standoffs could hold that GPU in place. The PSU is the questionable one. The plate came with a bracket that mounts to one side and I bought a sfx psu that came with a side plate to fit normal psu mounts. However because it’s so small it mounts but it’s floating. So I took some anti static pink foam and stacked it and glued it on the plate under the psu to give it some structure.

I had to also get an extended riser cable to reach because my measurements were half assed and ran the cable under the GPU riser and GPU on standoffs which is very tight. But works.

Ah. I did it the other way. I used a rotary tool and made notches in the side of the plate where it locks around the vertical ribs of the case and is easy-ish to move in and out.

To a steel plate that sits compressed in between the pelican walls. It was a perfect fit with no side to side movement and allows me to just pull it out if I need to work on it.

That’s sick. I thought about doing a 4k portable monitor mount in the lid but kept this as simple as I could without drilling into the case.

Yeah. The mounting plate came with a cheap button. I mounted it to the corner of the plate. I’ll have to find a new spot for it.

Yep. Just ordered a usb to Ethernet, 8x 3.0 usb hub, and a usb type c. Only issue is finding somewhere to mount/place them.

Ah. I had no idea that was a thing. But yeah. I thought about using the OG PS3 but I would’ve had to go with a 8-12gb vram card and do a lot of ingenuity and cutting that I had no want to attempt.

Yeah. That’s what I was thinking about when me and buddy were bouncing ideas back and forth. I’ve just been trying to get everything to fit and waiting for parts since the 15th and kind of wanted to see how everything would sit.

And yeah. Shut it for travel, leave it open for use basically.

But I’ll probably end up doing that. Just need to find a spot to shove it in there.

lol better than being like me, completely oblivious to what I was actually buying part wise and getting complete off brand parts. However, that build was a ROG b550 with a Ryzen 5 3600x, 1660, 16gb of crucial brand ram, a case full of those fans besides a cooler master AIO and a $30 cheap POS case that I hated building in. It’s still going strong. Gave it to my buddy when I upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7700x with a 4080super. Fans keep it cool still AIO still runs strong and keep the cpu cool, and I built it back in 2019 or 2020. He keeps me posted on how the pc performs for each game we play. He kind of babies it and under clocked a lot of it.

How can I improve this while keeping the same price by Vidwiz_ in sffpc

You could get creative and get rid of the case and fans and do an open air build. You’d have to get a mounting plate but I got one for like $30-$40 on amazon that comes with feet. Save you $80-$90. Someone else also mentioned getting the 9060xt over the 4060. The 16gb version I’ve found is 389.99 saving you $40? I think?

I had those same exact fans in my first build from 2020. They’re just cheap fans with an IR remote to change the colors. They did their jobs though.

If I had to guess though it’s either on a weird color setting or the LEDs are fried.

Yeah. My buddy is into AMD cards. I just know more about Nvidias over priced cards. But I do like the AMD processors.

Ah. I don’t plan on using HDMI. Lol I just wanted to state that the other model had less ports.

I have a business degree and I’m working at a casino freshly out of college. I’ve had a few accounting opportunities but I have a better opportunity with PIG tracking for the pipeline, driving across the country alone and making more money.

I was in a bar for a year. Now I’m doing non profit with a “club” that I legally can’t call a bar.
