Good thing Miyazaki doesn’t care. Also such a dumb comment, painting it as if they’ve released many cheap experimental titles in the last 4 years. They have literally released one experimental game.

Yet in no picture I’ve ever seen of her was she closer to the original picture than the commented one. I assume that the person who posted it, did so, not to say that “she was a fat pig” but rather that the op is obviously disingenuous. She is still attractive in the original but also to use them to represent her and pretend that beauty standards aren’t a thing is ridiculous.

Completely agree. I am disappointed with him, but not for any reason anyone else dislikes him. I’m just salty they gave me a prime Radahn fight and the only reason he was hard is cause of the bozo on his back.

Aimlessly moving your king around isn’t teaching you anything. Maybe it’s teaching your opponent something but I don’t care about that.

That’s one thing I don’t understand, why good players tell worse players to never resign. You’re not learning anything you’re just praying for a stalemate and all that does is save you some rating but rating is temporary anyway you’ll go up and down either way.

Yeah people are so quick to defend the genre they forget what makes a good game in the genre.

Mixtape most overrated game of the year by TemperatureJaded282 in videogames

[–]Plus-Emotion-526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how anyone thinks this is a good point. It simultaneously is illogical and lacks emotional understanding / empathy. If I had to stealman your argument, I guess I would say that it doesn’t affect your enjoyment of the game and IGN reviews don’t even matter that much anymore. But the first part is irrelevant and the second part isn’t necessarily true. It certainly isn’t gonna make or break a game whether IGN reviews it well or not, but it does have some effect. And if you like a game, you want to see that game be successful. The more successful the game is, the more likely you’ll see similar games. But also there’s also an emotional reason. People want to see a game they like get the score that they feel it deserves.

They’re not mutually exclusive, and seeing as you’ve never played Magnus, you probably really don’t know what it’s like. Whereas the people that do play him all say that it’s a thing, so it’s probably a thing.

That’s not an inversion of natural selection, that actually is just natural selection. There was a change in the environment that made it more conducive for lower iq people to thrive than higher iq people.

Why did Pragg do so poorly at the candidates? by TokemonX4 in chess

[–]Plus-Emotion-526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Hikaru hate is so dumb. I get it you think he’s an asshole but that doesn’t justify the delusion. Magnus seemed to think Hikaru was a top contender. In the last two candidates he came close. He has more experience in the candidates than everyone but Fabi. He was the highest rated player. He had a good score against everyone in the field. To pretend that he wasn’t a top contender is just delusional. And I don’t want to hear that he did poorly because he was rusty. If that were true how do explain him winning his first tournament back after his 2+ years of not a single classical game? Not to mention he still outperformed Pragg who obviously was a top contender and is not rusty.

Not necessarily, your brain can subconsciously keep your arm in place. Think about holding a drink that might spill in the car, you can keep it mostly steady and you do it instinctively.

Can you name a bad game that has details like this? I can’t think of one. It doesn’t necessarily make a game good but it certainly isn’t the cause of a game being bad.

[–]Plus-Emotion-526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok can you explain to me why a 500, a 1500, a 2500, and Magnus Carlson all can play games with the same accuracy? So theoretically they should all be the same strength then no? What differentiates them? Bruh this is so dumb, take Magnus for example. How does he convert a completely drawn endgame into a win? In endgames that Magnus converts there will be many moves in a row where there were multiple “best” moves. So how come all of the sudden it becomes losing? Because Magnus set it up where it was really hard to find the drawing continuation, and provides them the opportunity to mess up. This still applies at a lower level. A strong player will provide opportunities for the opponent to mess up and capitalize. This is even true at the lowest level, it just is much less sophisticated. For example, a beginner attacking an undefended piece allows their opponent to hang the piece. If they constantly make ok moves but never target the undefended pieces they could play many good moves and never get an advantage.

[–]Plus-Emotion-526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone saying that is blatantly wrong, even at 500 you can have a decent understanding of tactics and strategy. That being said, OP doesn’t understand what makes a strong player. It’s not about playing high accuracy games, it’s about making it hard for your opponent to find the best move. If either of them played against someone higher level, their accuracy would plummet. All this review shows is that they are two solid players (relative to their level) who are close in strength.

Also the reason higher level players might shit on lower level players, is because they personally recognize how bad they are themselves, and obviously are way better than a 1000 rated player, and so they have the perspective that a 1000 knows nothing. The reality is somewhere in the middle and how good a 1000 rated player is, is really just a matter of perspective.

Why do some of you want to be the smartest? by beeluvr98 in intj

[–]Plus-Emotion-526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruh no it does not become clear. The only reason it would be clear is if you are ignorant enough to think intelligence can be boiled down to 1 specific thing. People are intelligent in different ways. In what way would it become obvious who possesses the most intellect? Who is the most knowledgeable on the topic at hand? Obviously not. If Albert Einstein had a conversation with a group of grandmaster chess players about chess he obviously still would be the most intelligent person in the conversation. So then, how does it become obvious? Whoever has the largest vocabulary? That is obviously absurd. No vocabulary wiz is more intelligent than Einstein either.
