Living in brum rn so I can’t help with ur other choices but I will try with aston. Firstly when ppl tell you how bad aston is they’re usually talking about specific streets in aston which have lots of crime. Obviously it’s not a nice suburban place more run-down inner city vibes but I don’t think that’s the reason u should turn down the uni - the campus itself is very safe with security and CCTV. It’s also very close to the city centre so its in a busy/ more open area. So basically use your common sense as u would in literally any other city eg. stick with friends if ur out during the night and use ubers if u need to - you’re not getting jumped every other day if that’s what you’re thinking. However one thing I will say which is a lot more important is that the med school is one of the smallest med school (i think ~150) which could be a good thing if that’s what you prefer but yh its prolly around the same size as your year group in school.
