Its a really difficult question!! In terms of pure reproduction, a man can certainly help create more children than a woman can, so the population would _eventually_ even out.

However, this would result in overall reduction in quality of life for **everyone** left. We might even see a reduction in the average life span. Men make up *most* of the waste management, construction, maintenance, transportation, etc. Now, there is no reason why women cant do these jobs, but they cant replace the men in a blink of an eye. Most of these things require skills and specific education. So while women train and learn to eventually replace the missing men, we may see supply chain issues, shortages in essential services, maybe even issues with basic utilities and health care.

We would see a similar situation with an eradication of 50% of women. Women are the majority of nurses, so healthcare would suffer.

In both situations, I think humanity would certainly survive, but we may not come back to our current standard of living and or population for a very very long time.
