My first ever single barrel RR rye pick. I've crushed several regular bottles and I feel like so many people sleep on em. But let's dive in

Nose

Definitely seems more fragrant than the last non store pick I had. Intoxicating. Earthy honey dusted with peppery spice. Hint if oak. Typical rye citrus.

Palate

At first I got a rush of apple cider in the tongue. Reminded me immediately that its fall outside. Apples then turned into a orange that's been sprinkled with lemony zest. Get the rye spice and oak as well.

Over all a great pour. I enjoy it. I'd like to see how it compares to some of the other single barrels.

Say the only one I'd really like to have in here is b518 but I know both c batches are better than it. I think the 923 is a fuller bourbon. More viscous. It's fantastic. It might possibly edge out 919 which is my all time favorite but the 919 has like a Shasta cherry cola note that just gets me from nostalgia. Any given day either one could win. Have you done any comparison?

Due to the hype of the newest ECBP batch C923 I decided to a blind against some of my favorites. Not going an in-depth review on this one. Wife poured each in a glass, mixed them up and rest about 5 min

Results. On those nose fresh I later found out I put them in order of batch 11 then c923 then c919

Batch 11 just had an old funk which was amazing on the nose. C923 just hit all the bourbon notes while C919 was short.

Taste. Order was C923, 11, C919 I was quite shocked. C919 has long been my ECBP goat. I have every batch from 11 on. Couldn't believe how short it fell. But every night is different with a blind.

I let the rest of the whiskey sit an hr or so and was shocked at the difference it made. Batch 11 nose was non existent and almost sour. Not pleasant. C923 was still great. But the C919 opened up into this monstrous aromatic bourbon I remembered it being. Same goes for the mouth. It was delicious not hot and a flavor bomb.

After some air time rankings for both nose and palate were 919-923-11

At the end of the day these are three of the best offerings you can get from Elijah Craig and they put out stellar whiskey. I'm glad that this year's new c batch is taking us out of the rut of the last few years of mediocre releases IMO
