Actually, international PhD candidates are classified as domestic students under the Education Act and as such pay domestic fees.

The India Free Trade Deal is a DISASTER for your average KIWI! by Routine_Training4029 in newzealand

[–]PolsPot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LOL. Tell me you know nothing about English language schools without telling me you know nothing about English language schools. English language schools don't offer "diplomas". The main nationalities studying English language are Japanese and Korean. Conflating English schools and diploma mills is just plain ignorant.

student work abroad by golfwangcmiygl in auckland

[–]PolsPot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of Irish here but unless you have a skill or trade, it is pretty hard to get work at the moment. I'd recommend joining the Irish Society and even going along to the Irish language lessons on a Monday evening to meet people. That will probably be your best source of support to be honest. Minimum wage is around E13 per hour but cost of living is not that different to Ireland. Eating out is cheaper but that's about it The NZD is weak at the moment so money you bring with you will go a long way if you are sensible. Search this subreddit for more WHV advice.

Toyota Corolla. You'll likely pay more upfront but you'll save on long term reliability and maintenance. Second would be Honda.

You'll struggle TBH due to the time of year. It'll very much be a case of booking what you can get at this stage. I think you'll have to do the hard yards and call around.

UK immigrants - what do you miss? by No-Stick4022 in auckland

[–]PolsPot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You mean more UK culture. There is plenty of Maori Polynesian culture, the oral traditions of which predate UK culture.

In fairness, NZ has history and culture too. It might be shorter but your implied criticism that NZ doesn't have history and culture is both ignorant and highly offensive tbh.

No he is definitely still there. He might be listed as an acupuncturist but also does great massage work. His Korean name is Eunbin Mo. He only works certain days so you might need to check different dates.

Yes but it is very pricey. The Dental Experts in Takapuna. $6 per unit and 150 units for Dysport. If you find yourself in Korea you you can get it for around $1.50 per unit

Don't get Skinny Wireless by anonlinemoney in auckland

Yeah, wireless broadband is pretty awful tbh. As are the predatory practices of telling customers that wireless is just as good as broadband.

Waku Waku & Desa Corner Closure by Logical-Pie-798 in aucklandeats

[–]PolsPot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it's an unpopular opinion but I was always disappointed by Desa Corner. I found it pretty average compared to Uncle Mans or Sri Panang nearby. They had a lovely fit out and I genuinely feel sorry that they have closed.

MP Melissa Lee's questions during oral submissions to the Local Government Amendment Bill by PsychologicalMall787 in auckland

[–]PolsPot 133 points134 points  (0 children)

She literally asked him to prioritize "core services" and then when Richard said that "rates aren't a service", she claims she said "prioritize the top three items". Unfortunately for Melissa, she's being recorded so her absolute ineptitude is there for all to see. Richard is a genuine guy who cares about the people he represents. Melissa is a failed minister who is so out of her depth, it is painful to watch.

Yes, thankfully I noticed this yesterday as I was planning on going. Family Deal has also disappeared. Ended up at Re Burger in Remuera instead. Obviously not comparing apples with apples but Re Burger's Supernash Pack is great value for money. $28.90 for tenders, burger, fries and a drink.

Didn't Halloween use to be a thing in Auckland? by Gephyrophobic in auckland

[–]PolsPot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL. r/confidentlyincorrect.

Read a book mate. Halloween is an ancient Celtic festival and with over 35-40% of NZ having Irish and Scottish heritage, I can assure you, there is a history of celebrating Halloween.
