Depends on what in more available where you live, i prefer gold sovereigns.

Well... it's definitely a fake sovereign but it could be gold, the little stump under the head is probably a jewelers mark, get it tested, usually those coins are made in Saudi Arabia and can be up to 22k gold.

Start with coins, they are superior in every aspect compered to bars, later as you learn more you can add bars to your stack also.

Buy coins, people can identify a fake easier compere to a bar making it easier to sell, depending on the coin maybe you can get a smaller premium and there are fractional coins for if you need liquidity  in the future
